Today, we stand together not just as colleagues but as proud citizens of Papua New Guinea, as we celebrate a very significant milestone our 50th Independence Anniversary. This is a moment of reflection, pride, and optimism for what lies ahead.
Fifty years ago, on September 16, 1975, our nation embarked on a journey towards self-determination, resilience, and unity. Independence was not just a change in government; it represented the spirit of our people, a spirit that drives us to rise above challenges, embrace our identity, and work together for a brighter future.
As we reflect on this half-century of independence, we honor the sacrifices of those who came before us the leaders, the visionaries, and the everyday heroes whose unwavering dedication made our freedom possible. They showed us the power of unity and the importance of community.
