Easter: the best time to “Pay it Forward” - Jema Lawyers donates to WeCARe Foundation, PNG.
It is an annual tradition of Jema Lawyers (Firm) to give back to the community every Easter. This tradition has started in 2016 when the Firm made its first charitable donation. Since then, the Firm has maintained this tradition annually to ‘pay it forward’ by giving to the needy and vulnerable citizens of Papua New Guinea (PNG).
For this year, 2022, the Firm has chosen to make its charitable donation to WeCARe! Foundation (“WeCARe”). WeCARE is located at Oak Street, Hohola 4, National Capital District, Port Moresby, PNG. WeCare was established in 2022. It is a not-for-profit charity organization based in PNG which aims to provide support to the poor, disabled, marginalized and abandoned young women and children. It provides this support in order to assist these people to become good, decent, valued and productive citizens of PNG.
In line with its aims, WeCARe provides Education Supports, Women Empowerment, Early Childhood Learning, and Support to the needy people. Muhammad Ali once said:
“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth”.
This is seen in the thoughtful work done by WeCARe and the Firm commends WeCARe for taking on this challenge for more than 10 years.
On 14 April 2022, the Firm received representatives from WeCARe Foundation at our office to make the donation to them. The Firm donated food and toiletries worth K5, 000.00 to support the good work of WeCARe Foundation. The representatives expressed their gratitude and stated that this donation would assist them to continue their work.
Thereafter, the Firm held a small function for its staff and bid them a good and safe Easter Weekend.
