Panama has been re-elected to Category A of the IMO Council for the 2026–2027 term, reaffirming its position among the 10 States with the greatest influence on international maritime services.

The IMO is the UN agency responsible for global maritime safety standards, environmental protection, and the technical regulation of international shipping. Being in Category A confirms the leadership and strength of the Panamanian Ship Registry.

This achievement is not only institutional. It is also the result of the daily work of the entire maritime ecosystem: registry auxiliaries, seafarers, brokers, training centers, maritime universities, shipowners, and technical teams who uphold the prestige of the Panamanian flag around the world.

Panama continues to move forward, and those of us in the sector remain committed to raising standards and strengthening our global position.

A New Chapter with client: A Testament to Trust and Excellence

Some moments in our professional journey mark a clear before and after. Today is one of those moments.

In 2016, Maritech Maritime Training and Assessment Center became one of the first clients to trust our expertise, allowing us to represent them before the Autoridad Marítima de Panamá . Over time, circumstances led them to step away from the Panamanian flag, but at the end of 2024, they reconnected with us to reestablish our professional relationship.

Today, we are proud to announce that Maritech has once again been recognized as an official maritime training center.

This achievement represents not only a significant milestone for Maritech but also a moment of deep personal and professional fulfillment for our team.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Maritech for their renewed confidence and to the Panama Maritime Authority for its transparency and diligence throughout this process. This recognition is the result of teamwork, perseverance, and a shared vision of excellence in maritime training.

El Decreto Ejecutivo N° 177 establece nuevas normas para mantener registros contables y presentar información financiera.

👥 ¿Quiénes están obligados?
• Sociedades sin operaciones comerciales.
• Sociedades que generan ingresos o tienen activos fuera de Panamá.

🚫 Exentas:
• Contribuyentes fiscales en Panamá.
• Empresas listadas en bolsas de valores reconocidas.
• Propiedad de organismos internacionales o Estados.
• Armadores o fletadores de naves panameñas.

✅ ¿Cómo cumplir?
1️⃣ Mantén registros contables y documentos en Panamá.
2️⃣ Alternativa: Presenta un estado financiero auditado o cuadro resumen.
3️⃣ Proporciona información al agente residente, quien debe declarar ante la DGI.

📅 Fecha clave:
Desde el 1 de enero de 2025 y debe cumplirse antes del 15 de junio de cada año.

¿Compliance: Herramienta clave o moda burocrática?

En el mundo empresarial en el cual se cumple con las buenas prácticas de gobierno corporativo, el compliance ha ganado protagonismo como un mecanismo esencial para garantizar el cumplimiento normativo y prevenir riesgos legales. Pero, ¿es realmente una herramienta efectiva o se ha convertido en una tendencia burocrática que genera más costos que beneficios?

Por un lado, el compliance permite verificar datos, fortalecer la transparencia y mejorar la confianza de los denominados “stake holders”. Sin embargo, también se enfrenta a críticas: costos elevados, procesos repetitivos y desgastantes que consumen tiempo, y su uso como simple “fachada” en algunas organizaciones.

¿El futuro? La tecnología está transformando el compliance, con herramientas como la inteligencia artificial y el blockchain, haciéndolo más eficiente y menos invasivo. Su impacto dependerá de cómo las empresas lo implementen: como una estrategia real o una moda pasajera.

Para algunos el compliance en si sector es una ventaja competitiva y para otros un obstáculo burocrático? y como si fuera una clase de filosofía yo diría que esta la teoría ecléctica, los que combinan ambas corrientes

Ayer tuve el gusto de atender a unos nuevos clientes referidos por alguien a quien valoro mucho. Estas son las relaciones profesionales que realmente disfruto construir.

Por otro lado, recibí un mensaje de un supuesto ‘experto en mercadeo’ que quería agendar una videollamada para ofrecer sus servicios. Sin referencias claras ni información previa, mi instinto me llevó a desconfiar (ya es la segunda vez este mes). En nuestra profesión, la confianza es clave.

Mi humilde opinión con respecto a lo que deben consideran en el mundo del marketing digital, no siempre volumen de clientes significa rentabilidad! Y Al final, no se trata solo de ofrecer algo, sino de construir confianza desde el primer contacto.

This day is an opportunity to recognize the seafarers, ports, and companies that ensure the safety and efficiency of navigation, while also working to protect the oceans and promote a sustainable future. 🌱

In addition to emphasizing maritime safety and marine environment protection, we also honor the workers who, day after day, make international trade possible, connecting the world. 🌎
