A court in Muscat has convicted a travel and tourism company and its representative for violating consumer protection laws, imposing jail, fines and consumer refunds.

After investigating the complaints, the competent authorities referred the cases to court, where it was established that the company had failed to fulfil its contractual obligations and provide the services promised to consumers.

Oman's newly promulgated Cybercrime Law under Royal Decree 61/2026 enforces strict new provisions against data hacking, digital fraud, and online misinformation, with maximum penalties climbing up to 15 years in prison and fines of 100,000 Omani Riyals.

The new Cybercrime Law was issued under Royal Decree No. 61/2026 by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and replaces the previous Cybercrime Law promulgated under Royal Decree No. 12/2011. The law comes into force the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.

The Primary Court in Salalah has convicted a car sales company in Dhofar Governorate for failing to honour warranty obligations, imposing financial penalties after a consumer complaint revealed multiple defects in a newly purchased vehicle.

According to the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA), the court found the company and its representative guilty of violating provisions of the Consumer Protection Law after they refused to repair, replace, or refund a defective vehicle within the warranty period.

The Oman Meteorology has issued Report No. 1 outlining expected weather conditions from Tuesday, March 31, to Thursday, April 2, 2026, warning of rain, thunderstorms, and possible flash floods across several governorates.

According to the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center under the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), a trough of low pressure will affect the Sultanate starting Tuesday evening, continuing until Thursday morning, bringing scattered rainfall of varying intensity, sometimes thundery, accompanied by active winds. The system may lead to flash flooding in wadis and valleys and reduced horizontal visibility during rainfall.
