This week our team got together to celebrate John Gordon’s 50th anniversary with Sharp Tudhope.

This is an incredible achievement in its own right, but John's connection to Sharp Tudhope goes back much further. His earliest memory of the firm was at just four years old, playing in his father and former Partner of the firm, Bruce Gordon's office alongside his older sister. More than six decades later, he remains a familiar and valued part of Sharp Tudhope.

During his career, John spent 40 years as a Partner, helping shape us into the firm we are today. His knowledge, leadership and passion for motorsport and investing have left a lasting impact on generations of colleagues and clients alike.

Congratulations, John, on an extraordinary milestone, and thank you for your contribution to Sharp Tudhope over the past 50 years. We are fortunate to continue benefiting from your experience, wisdom and perspective, and we look forward to many more years working alongside you.

After 39 years with Sharp Tudhope Lawyers, Bill Chapman has retired, bringing to a close a legal career spanning almost 50 years and nearly four decades of service to the firm, its clients, and the Bay of Plenty community.

Admitted to the bar in 1977, Bill began his legal career in Whakatāne before joining Sharp Tudhope in 1987. The firm looked very different then, and over the years Bill played an important role in helping shape it into what it is today.

Bill became a Partner in 1990 and remained in that role for 32 years before transitioning to a consultancy position in 2022.

Beyond the firm, Bill served on the Foundation Board of Tauranga Riding for the Disabled for many years, reflecting his longstanding commitment to our region.

We recently had the privilege of celebrating Bill's career alongside staff, clients, family and friends, reflecting on the many milestones, achievements and memories from his time with us.

Thank you, Bill, for your dedication, friendship and contribution over the past 39 years. We wish you every happiness in your retirement.

130 years ago today, Henry Sharp opened his legal practice in Tauranga.

Fifteen years later, Archie Tudhope joined him, beginning a partnership that would become Sharp Tudhope.

Since then, we have had the privilege of supporting generations of local families, businesses, and community organisations through some of life's most important moments.
