Good to see the new Mental Health Ward in Rotorua has finally opened. As someone who frequented the ward every month to see clients, it is pleasing to see the 45 year old ward that was in dire need of an overhaul, has been replaced with a modern, uplifting, adequate facility to help enhance the wairua and oranga of the people that need it.

Over the last 12 years working as a Family Lawyer, I have known of at least 5 very competent exceptional lawyers who have given up the profession due to the high demands and stress that comes with the job. Like some other professions, being a Family Lawyer has its highs and its lows. Its extremely demanding on all involved. Respect for others, understanding and empathy go a long way for all involved ❤️

A large-scale survey of hundreds of lawyers, supported by dozens of individual interviews, found many are suffering high levels of emotional exhaustion and feeling stressed and depleted by the demands of their work.
