Renovating is exciting… until consent questions pop up 🛠️

A recent Court of Appeal decision has changed how disputes over cross-lease renovations are assessed, making it even more important to understand your rights before you start building.

Whether you're planning an extension, enclosing a deck, or making structural changes, a quick conversation with us now could save you significant time, cost and stress later 🏠

Just a couple of new recruits joining the Pier Law team… 🐑🤍

Caroline brought in these two little lambs for a visit, and naturally, the team couldn’t resist a cuddle!

Nothing says spring quite like lambs in the office! 🌿

Before you sign, make sure you understand every key term, especially the solicitor’s clause 🖋️

We've broken down this often-misunderstood clause, what it’s designed to do, and when it may be the right choice depending on the transaction.

As always, we recommend having a lawyer look over your Sale & Purchase Agreement before signing anything - remember, we're here to make sure you're protected before you even step foot into your dream home 🏠

Random Acts of Kindness Day gave us the perfect excuse to do something we’re quite fond of… baking! 🧁

Our team whipped up some homemade goodies to donate to Full Bellies Charitable Trust , a wonderful local charity providing school lunches to children across Canterbury.

We love what Full Bellies is doing for families in our community, and we were very happy to play a small part (with plenty of flour and sugar involved!).

Hopefully our baking helped make a few little lunchboxes – and days – that bit sweeter 💛

Our offices are looking a little brighter this Daffodil Day! 🌼

Each year, we order a beautiful bunch of daffodils for each of our offices as one small way of supporting the Cancer Society and the important work they do for people and families affected by cancer across New Zealand.

We always love seeing these bright blooms around the office – and knowing that our annual tradition helps support such an important cause💛

A little winter wellness boost for the team 🍊💛

We put together these Wellness Boost Packs with a few goodies to help everyone through the last stretch of winter - because sometimes it’s the little things that make a busy workday that much better.

Packed with vitamin C, cosy snacks, chocolate (essential, obviously) and a few winter must-haves, ready for a little pick-me-up when it’s needed most.

Here’s to looking after ourselves and each other as we head towards spring 🌱✨

Thanks to everyone who came along to our business seminar the other night. Chris from our team spoke on a range of commercial law topics, alongside Daniel from ITstuffed , Tsarina from Trailblazer Accountants Limited , and Andrew from Progentic 👏

It was a really interesting discussion with lots of practical insights for business owners at all stages, from starting out through to growing and protecting an established business. Thanks to everyone who joined us!
