August saw the median sale price in New Plymouth reach $700,000, up 12.0% from July and 3.2% compared with August last year.

There were 92 properties sold across the district, down from 128 in July and 109 in August 2025.

Across the wider Taranaki region, owner-occupiers accounted for most offers during the month. Good stock levels continued to give buyers plenty of choice, with competition still evident at lower price points, while activity was more limited at the higher end of the market.

With spring now underway, it will be interesting to see how the local market develops over the months ahead.
