We enjoyed being part of another high school careers talk this week. Teresa spoke about the many pathways into a legal career and some of the job opportunities in law.
The good news for students wanting a law degree is that you do not need to take any subjects in particular, you just need university entrance.
Beyond practicing as a lawyer, there are opportunities to work in the Police and justice system, advocacy and mediation, and in-house advisors. You can also obtain Legal Executive or Conveyancer qualifications. Many of the study options are available remotely, although Teresa recommends attending classes in person if you can, to get as much as possible out of them.
Best of all though is the ability to specialise in your preferred area of law over time, whether that is property, estates, family, criminal, resource management, employment....the list goes on. Property is the best of course! :D
