🏡 Thinking about buying your first home?

Taking the first step onto the property ladder can feel daunting, particularly when there’s so much to understand about finance, contracts and the buying process.

Join Denham Bramwell’s Property Law team for a free First Home Buyers Seminar at our Manukau office on 8 October.

Edgar Mahon from Kiwi Mortgages Ltd will join Janet Permal and Kristy Jones to share practical guidance on the home-buying process, including finance options, sale and purchase agreements, lending requirements and KiwiSaver withdrawals.

Whether you’re just starting to explore your options or actively looking for your first home, come along with your questions and leave with a clearer understanding of what’s involved.

Take the first step toward home ownership with the right information.

Call us on 09 985 6900 to register. Space is limited, so we can only accept the first 30 respondents. Don't miss out!

🌿 Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori | Māori Language Week 2026 🌿

This week, we’re celebrating Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori and the richness of te reo Māori — a language that belongs to all of us in Aotearoa.

The 2026 theme, Ake, ake, ake – Forever, focuses on Te Reo Towns and the importance of keeping te reo Māori strong, visible and present in our communities.

At Denham Bramwell Lawyers, our teams are sharing simple kupu and phrases throughout the week that can be used in everyday interactions with colleagues and clients.

💬 Kupu o te rā:
Mōrena koutou katoa – Good morning, everyone.

We’ll also be coming together across our offices for a shared morning tea to celebrate the week and the importance of keeping te reo Māori heard, used and valued.

Ka nui te mihi to everyone helping to strengthen and celebrate te reo Māori every day. 💚

September is Wills Month 📜

This September, our Whangaparāoa office is proud to once again support Harbour Hospice and the incredible work they do for people and families in our local community.

Wills Month is a timely reminder to put your affairs in order and make sure the people, organisations and causes that matter to you are looked after.

We’re pleased to support Harbour Hospice through this important initiative and help them continue providing compassionate end-of-life care and support to local people and their families.

Disputes can quickly become costly, disruptive and difficult to navigate without the right advice.

When a dispute arises, understanding your options early can make all the difference. Denham Bramwell's Dispute Resolution team works with clients to assess their position, protect their interests and find practical ways forward.

Where possible, we focus on resolving matters efficiently through negotiation and alternative dispute resolution.
Whether your dispute is commercial, property-related, contractual or personal, our focus remains the same — finding the most effective path towards a positive outcome.

Good dispute resolution isn't always about fighting harder. It's about knowing what to fight for.

🌼 Supporting a cause that touches so many lives.

Last Friday, our Manukau, Albany and Whangaparaoa offices came together in support of Daffodil Day, raising funds for the Cancer Society of New Zealand.

Our Spring Hamper raffle brought some extra fun to the day, with all ticket sales going directly to the Cancer Society. We were also proud to have our Partners generously top up the amount raised.

A big thank you Sarah Booth for organising the hamper and to everyone who purchased a ticket and helped make a difference💛

Supporting our community means standing alongside the organisations doing vital work for people❤️

Through a recent Go Bag charity drive, initiated by our Associate Anna Becroft, the Denham Bramwell team donated essential items to support Eastern Women’s Refuge and the vulnerable women, children and whānau who rely on its services.

A huge thank you to our General Manager, Devika Kumar, and our admin team for helping bring this initiative together, and to everyone across Denham Bramwell who generously contributed.

We’re proud to support the important work being done by Eastern Women’s Refuge and grateful to everyone who helped make this drive a success.

Thinking of selling a rental property? 🏡

Before signing a Sale and Purchase Agreement, it’s important to consider whether you plan to sell with vacant possession or subject to the existing tenancy.

The type of tenancy in place, notice requirements, settlement dates and your obligations as a landlord can all affect the sale process. Getting these details wrong could create complications and potential liability.

Our latest article explores some of the key considerations landlords should keep in mind when selling a tenanted property.
