🚫 Visa Refused? Let's talk about your next steps.

A visa refusal isn't always the end of the road. Common reasons for declined applications include missing information, financial concerns, weak home country ties, health or character issues, and questions about the information provided.

The sooner you seek advice, the sooner you can understand your options and avoid repeating the same issues in a future application.

πŸ“’ Big proposed change to NZ Permanent Residency

ACT has announced a policy proposal that would shake up New Zealand's residence system ahead of the election.

Under the plan:
πŸ”Ή The Permanent Resident Visa category would be scrapped altogether
πŸ”Ή The Resident Visa would instead come with a 5-year travel facility (up from the current 2-year initial condition)
πŸ”Ή To keep that travel facility, visa holders would need to spend at least 730 days (2 years) in New Zealand during any rolling 5-year period
πŸ”Ή The 730 days wouldn't need to be continuous β€” but the current unconditional, indefinite right to leave and re-enter NZ would be removed

Some exemptions are proposed for people working overseas for NZ employers, accompanying family members, military personnel, those with a citizen spouse, or compelling humanitarian reasons.

ACT's Immigration spokesperson Dr Parmjeet Parmar says the change would bring NZ into line with countries like Australia, Canada and Singapore, where permanent residence requires an ongoing physical connection to the country.

⚠️ Please note: this is currently a policy proposal, not law. We'll keep you updated as this develops.
