🚨 Water pouring onto the roof during a property viewing? That's a problem that can't wait.

At 7:45pm on Sunday night, we received an urgent job request from a Christchurch property manager after a sales agent spotted hot water spilling into the roof spouting during a house viewing.

By 8:00am Monday morning, Grant was onsite investigating the issue.

The culprit? A very old Nefa valve had failed, allowing hot water to continuously discharge into the spouting.

✅ Fault diagnosed.
✅ New Nefa valve installed.
✅ Problem resolved.

🚽 A Running Toilet Isn't Just Annoying... It's Wasting Water

One of our plumbers, Grant, was called out on Friday to investigate a toilet that just wouldn't stop running.

The issue?
After flushing, the cistern continued to refill and wouldn't shut off, meaning water was constantly flowing into the bowl.

In this case, Grant found the inlet valve wasn't shutting off correctly. He replaced the faulty valve, tested everything thoroughly, and had the toilet working as it should before leaving.

💧 A continuously running toilet can waste hundreds of litres of water every day if left unattended, leading to unnecessary water bills and potential damage over time.

⏱️ From work order to on-site in just 30 minutes.

At 9:30am we received a work order from a property manager reporting a leak under a bathroom basin.

By 10:00am, one of our plumbers was on site.

The issue was traced to the hot basin tap pipework. We replaced the leaking section, tested the repair thoroughly, and confirmed everything was leak-free before leaving.

**From 1957 to 2026 – What a Transformation! 🔥**

This week, Jeff completed a hot water cylinder replacement in Christchurch that was one for the history books.

The original hot water cylinder had been installed back in **1957** and had served the home for nearly 70 years. While that's an incredible lifespan, it was definitely time for an upgrade.

We replaced the ageing indoor cylinder with a modern outdoor hot water cylinder, freeing up valuable indoor space while providing the homeowner with a reliable hot water system for years to come.

It's always satisfying to see the difference a quality installation can make—and these before and after photos say it all.

When Raff and I started our plumbing and heating business in London, we entered an industry that was heavily male dominated

Over the years, there were several moments where people made assumptions about me before I’d even spoken

Often I was mistaken for admin support
Often people assumed the business decisions sat elsewhere
And occasionally, people said the quiet part out loud

At the time, I rarely reacted

I was too busy building the business, raising children and trying to survive the pressures of entrepreneurship.

But looking back now, I realise those experiences taught me some of the most valuable leadership lessons of my career
