A citizenship test will be introduced from late 2027 as part of the citizenship by grant process.

Work is underway to prepare for this change. There is currently no change to the citizenship process and applicants must still meet eligibility requirements.

You can read more detail about the future change on the NZ Government website: www.govt.nz/browse/passports-citizenship-and-identity/nz-citizenship/citizenship-test/

Information, including learning materials, will be available well in advance of the test becoming a requirement.
