The news these school holidays - and frankly this winter...has been grim. It then translates to work in our offices, and for my colleagues and I into the courts. Physical, Psychological, Financial, Systems, Litigation, sexual and other abuses.
The nzherald.co.nz article outlines some of what has been happening and some of these have been *just down the road* and in your area. You may know some of them, or know someone who knows someone who knows them.....or did!
Speak up and offer help if Family harm is around, its better to take a risk and report, or get a welfare check just in case then to stand by and watch on as bodies are being carried out.
Drug use is high, your neighbours have addiction issues, violence is behind those closed curtains, kids are being abused and dont feel safe to tell anyone, families are struggling - do welfare checks, offer a hand out, a hand up, a safe space - watch out for those around you. Yes life is like a Westpac ad - what happens in your home .....but if you know something is happening or need help please speak out and reach out.

HOW TO GET HELP
If you’re in danger NOW:
• Phone the police on 111 or ask neighbours of friends to ring for you. Yell at SIRI to call 111 if you have to. Chuck that apple watch and smash it for help
• Run outside and head for where there are other people (YELL while doing this!)
• Scream for help so that your neighbours can hear you. SCREAM and dont stop. Yell FIRE...that can get more attention sometimes.
• Take the children with you (PLEASE do NOT leave them behind!!!)
• Don’t stop to get anything else. (We will help you get items, pets and replace documents where possible later on - we cannot replace YOU!)
• If you are being abused, remember it’s not your fault. Violence is never okay
