We recently represented a family whose Parent Resident Visa application was returned by Immigration New Zealand because it arrived six days after the deadline.

The application had been sent by overnight courier on the final day, but an unexpected delivery delay meant the family lost their opportunity to apply.

With serious family circumstances adding to an already difficult situation, we knew this case deserved further consideration.

Our team prepared a detailed request for ministerial intervention, setting out the circumstances, supporting evidence and reasons why the family deserved another opportunity.

We are delighted to share that a delegated decision-maker, acting on behalf of the Associate Minister of Immigration, has granted a Special Direction allowing the family a fresh opportunity to apply for residence under the Parent Category!

This is not yet residence approval, but it is an important victory that gives the family another chance to continue their journey towards living together in New Zealand.

Employer Accreditation Approved — The Next Day After Our Response by our advisor Hong D**g (Daisy)

A great result for one of our employer clients.
Immigration New Zealand raised a number of concerns with the Employer Accreditation application, including the financial viability of the business, supporting financial evidence, and compliance with employer obligations. INZ advised that the application was unlikely to be approved unless those concerns were resolved.
Our team carefully reviewed the concerns, prepared a detailed response, and organised the supporting evidence to address the issues raised.
We submitted the response — and the very next day the Employer Accreditation was APPROVED.
This is a good reminder that receiving a Request for Further Information or concerns from Immigration New Zealand does not automatically mean the application is over. A clear, well-prepared response supported by the right evidence can make a significant difference.

✅ TWO JOB CHECKS APPROVED THIS WEEK!

A great result for two of our accredited employers — two Job Checks approved this week, with both approved within one week of submission.

While processing times can never be guaranteed, these results show that Job Checks can still move efficiently when the recruitment has been completed properly and the application is well prepared before submission.

But we also want to be clear about the reality of the current labour market.

As New Zealand moves closer to the 2026 General Election and unemployment remains high, employers should expect Job Checks and Accredited Employer Work Visas to receive careful scrutiny.

A Job Check is not simply about wanting to employ a migrant worker.

Employers must genuinely test the New Zealand labour market and give suitable New Zealand citizens and residents a fair opportunity to apply for the position.

At TDA Immigration, before we proceed with a Job Check, we review the employer's recruitment carefully.

We look at:

how the position was advertised;
how many New Zealand citizens and residents applied;
whether applicants were genuinely considered;
why applicants were considered unsuitable or unavailable; and
whether the recruitment process meets Immigration New Zealand's requirements.

If we believe the recruitment has not been completed to the standard Immigration New Zealand expects, we will tell the employer before we start the Job Check process.

Sometimes that means advising an employer to advertise again or undertake further recruitment.

We would rather give an employer the truth than take their money and submit an application that is not ready.

This is not a money-making exercise. It is about meeting Immigration New Zealand policy and getting the process right.

Migrant workers continue to play an important role in New Zealand businesses, but employers must genuinely consider suitable and available New Zealand citizens and residents where required.

Our two approvals this week show that Job Checks are still being approved — and can be approved quickly — when there is a genuine vacancy, the employer has undertaken a proper recruitment process, and the application is ready before it is submitted.

At TDA Immigration, our job is not to simply lodge an application. Our job is to tell you the truth, identify any issues before submission, and give your application the strongest possible foundation under current Immigration New Zealand policy.
