This is the official page for the Department of International Relations at Hedmark County Council, Norway. The Department of International Relations was established in 2005 as a response to the need for a more coordinated and proactive international initiative of the county administration. As a border region, Hedmark has a strategic position within the European development programmes. Sha
ring a border of 400 kilometres with the Swedish counties Värmland and Dalarna,
Hedmark County is in close proximity to EU’s external borders to Norway. Emphasising the role of border regions as meeting places for people, culture, knowledge and ideas, as well as law
and economics, Hedmark County Council has been a part of EU’s cross border cooperation (INTERREG A) since 1995. Currently, the Department of International Relations at Hedmark
County Council is involved in the following Projects and programmes:
