Institute for International Criminal Investigations - IICI

Institute for International Criminal Investigations - IICI The IICI trains investigators in the knowledge necessary to investigate war crimes and other serious violations of international humanitarian law.

The Institute fills a significant gap in international criminal justice processes by providing dedicated training in the additional skills needed to investigate genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and egregious human rights violations. Further, access to a well-trained pool of investigation professionals is vital to ensuring a timely response to international crimes as they are occurring

. The IICI has developed a pool of almost 1,000 people who meet this criterion. Criminal proceedings for international crimes, and indeed most other forms of intervention to achieve justice or tackle impunity, can only succeed if they are supported by reliable information that has been collected professionally and according to international standards. The IICI facilitates this through its training courses and roster of investigation professionals. It is the only organisation of its type in the world.
