Finally, after almost three years of discussions, 52 clients of ours who were wrongfully accused of claiming allowances for their kids etc. (toeslagenaffaire), will be fully compensated with interest.

This has been a good day for them and for us.

These cases always get us in high gear as tax lawyers; elderly clients who are paying too much wealth tax in the Netherlands because some Dutch tax inspectors disregard recent Dutch case law. These cases will very soon be resolved by us.

Apparently there is still justice.

A client who spent much of his life working in his business saving money only to discover the Dutch tax authorities want to tax his pension reserve as he borrowed money against it.

The High Court in The Hague ruled in favor of our client and ruled the Dutch government to pay compensatory damages in the amount of EUR 15,000.

Finally solved a case on behalf of a Dutch client, living in Belgium, with sole business operations in the Netherlands, who wrongfully paid social premiums in Belgium. Many thanks to the efforts of the Dutch SVB for ruling in our favor.

Probably pulling an all nighter for this one.

A former client (currently residing in Thailand) contacted me last Friday with possibly double taxation issues in the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK.

Sent me the file today.

After a quick scan, it’s a compliance issue, not a tax evasion issue. As usual we will take care of it.
