Starting a Smoke without Fire in Edjemounyave: Local Government Chairman is Creating tension in that community whereas he’s supposed to be maintaining law and order!
Issues of Edjemounyavwe community in Oghara has come to our notice and this piece has become imperative. Kenneth Ibiri has been in power for over 6 years as youth chairman. In that time, he has built an hotel in the bush and has succeeded only in creating a haven for illegal activities including prostitution. Now we learnt the said Kenneth Ibiri has doled our money to the likes of Abiyemi Gabari and others who are now bent on forcing this said Kenneth Ibiri on the people.
Yesterday, one of our members, Barr. Akpor, wrote a piece on his wall and all hell went loose. That piece has since been brought down because of pressure. Hence the need for a follow up, to educate some persons, including the Local Government chairman, on why he should stop using is powers to insult, cajole, oppress and blackmail a people. This is not PDP or APC matter. This is a communal matter and regardless of what political party one is, the Local authority should be respected. Council of elders including the Ovie of Oghara Kingdom recognizes Chief Hope Abijor as the substantive chairman of Edjemounyavwe community. This being the case, it is the prerogative of chief Abijor to notify the Oguedion of those that emerge as community leaders and not the duty of the local Government chairman to take up such an unnecessary fight. Taking advise from the likes of Comrade Favour Ededey, who emerged from Oghareki Oguedion but wants Edjemounyave chairman to emerge at the council headquarters will be met by resistance from the people. Being a local government chairman does not make you invisible so much so that you disrespect local authority and elders. If you disrespect them, who will now respect you? What is the interest of Solomon Golley in Edjemounyave? You should be careful as this issue you claim to be a small issue might turn round to burn you deep.
As for Kenneth Ibiri, when you won your first two tenures as chairman, was it the council that gave you powers? If you like, dance round the length and breadth of Oghara, the quarters in Edjemounyave are. It fools, they are done with you. Go and meet Abiyemi Gabari and others you have given your money to before it’s too late.
