Starting a Smoke without Fire in Edjemounyave: Local Government Chairman is Creating tension in that community whereas he’s supposed to be maintaining law and order!

Issues of Edjemounyavwe community in Oghara has come to our notice and this piece has become imperative. Kenneth Ibiri has been in power for over 6 years as youth chairman. In that time, he has built an hotel in the bush and has succeeded only in creating a haven for illegal activities including prostitution. Now we learnt the said Kenneth Ibiri has doled our money to the likes of Abiyemi Gabari and others who are now bent on forcing this said Kenneth Ibiri on the people.
Yesterday, one of our members, Barr. Akpor, wrote a piece on his wall and all hell went loose. That piece has since been brought down because of pressure. Hence the need for a follow up, to educate some persons, including the Local Government chairman, on why he should stop using is powers to insult, cajole, oppress and blackmail a people. This is not PDP or APC matter. This is a communal matter and regardless of what political party one is, the Local authority should be respected. Council of elders including the Ovie of Oghara Kingdom recognizes Chief Hope Abijor as the substantive chairman of Edjemounyavwe community. This being the case, it is the prerogative of chief Abijor to notify the Oguedion of those that emerge as community leaders and not the duty of the local Government chairman to take up such an unnecessary fight. Taking advise from the likes of Comrade Favour Ededey, who emerged from Oghareki Oguedion but wants Edjemounyave chairman to emerge at the council headquarters will be met by resistance from the people. Being a local government chairman does not make you invisible so much so that you disrespect local authority and elders. If you disrespect them, who will now respect you? What is the interest of Solomon Golley in Edjemounyave? You should be careful as this issue you claim to be a small issue might turn round to burn you deep.
As for Kenneth Ibiri, when you won your first two tenures as chairman, was it the council that gave you powers? If you like, dance round the length and breadth of Oghara, the quarters in Edjemounyave are. It fools, they are done with you. Go and meet Abiyemi Gabari and others you have given your money to before it’s too late.

In oghara, there is a rotation policy that rotates some elected offices like the office of the council chairman between Ogharefe/Oghareki and the Jesse/Mosogar Axis. However, there is no accord anywhere amongst our political elite that restrains one from contesting for a different office subsequent to leaving an office. Moreso, the seat of the Member of House of Representative is not included in our rotational policy.
For the House of Representatives, the rotation is between the two local governments that make up the Ethiope Federal constituency; East and West. East would have completed 8years by 2019 so it would be the turn of Ethiope west to produce a member to that exalted seat.
With all this said, Solomon Ogheneovo Golley is qualified to contest this position come 2019. With Golley, the word tested and trusted could not be over emphasized. As a council chairman he came into power with a tri-pod agenda of Peace, Security and Human Capital Development of Ethiope West. However, it was during his time that there was a visible shortage of funds to the local government which is a well known fact across borders. But he was not deterred; Hon. Golley with the meager resources available to him has ensured there is peace in Oghara as he has been able to quell the menace of kidnapping and daily robbery that almost became a norm in oghara. Hon. Golley took on the issue of security as a matter of personal challenge even losing some of his personal properties including his red convertible which he had to forfeit to settle some security bills all in the fight against these notorious kidnappers
I am sure a lot of persons will have a thing or two to say about this piece but you will all agree with me that Hon. Solomon Golley has done well in the area of Peace and Security in Oghara and Ethiope West at Large. Hon. Golley as local Government Chairman did not shy away from his people even when government allocations and funds shied away from him. He was always available at his residence along Water board road attending to issues and lending his weight behind the overall growth of oghara.
There is a saying that one good turn deserves another; and indeed, Golley deserves another opportunity to serve his people in a different capacity and a different clime. Though he must have inadvertently stepped on a few toes while in office but his good out ways his flaws. And his little flaws I believe must have been as a result of the state of affairs of the local government council which he came to meet.
Overtime, Golley is known for his capacity to accommodate and carry people along. He is an empowerment master as could be recalled from his time at the Delta State Waste Management Board and it is our belief that the people of Ethiope Federal Constituency will benefit from his selfless style of leadership.
Of course 2019 is pregnant but Hon. Solomon Golley is as good as it gets.

Governor Okowa and his Poverty for Most Deltans agenda! Okowa now claims he has employed over thousands since inception of his government; this is but a fallacy. Handing out jerseys to touts to be collecting revenue and giving out stipends to ghost trainees in his agricultural scheme does not count as employment.
Indeed, the great Robert Nesta Marley once said, "in the abundance of plenty, the fool is thirsty", this may well be the case of delta state. We are a state endowed with natural resources and a reasonable allocation from the center; but all we seem to hear this past 12 months is how Uduaghan stole our money and how Okowa is here to fix things. But when the present Government begins to spend more than previous governments, Deltans begin to wake up to the fraud of the Anioma man.
In the wake of this administration, over 3000 Delta state workers were systematically laid off under this Smart poverty oriented government. Amongst these workers, were those employed since January 2015 who have already received over 4 months salary but were unceremoniously dropped by this insensitive government.
The issue of Local Government is another. Local Government chairmen have become reduced to council cashiers as all they now do is collect stipends from the state Government, after the latter have shortchanged the council allocation from the Federal, and hand the cash over to the workers. Most council chairmen in the state are so broke they can hardly take care of their personal upkeep or even offset outstanding electioneering debt. Whilst the personal aides of the Governor, his personal private secretary a case in point, are swimming unabashedly in state funds. Okowa has deceived us thus far, but no further. Henceforth , we shall be vigilant and stand up to our social responsibility as the only hope of the common man. As for those retrenched workers, we intend to go to the National Industrial Court at Awka. If you know you were employed by the state, with employment letter, posting letter, you've received salary over 3months, and you have your salary payment voucher, please contact us as we intend to institute a class action law suit against the Delta state Government for reinstatement and benefit of the class of workers listed herein. Contact us or Send your details to this email: [email protected].
Enough is enough!

The office of the President General of Oghara Youths Association has been informed of disparaging reports making rounds on facebook that Oghara Youths led by the president are hounding Chief William Makinde and Hon. Erhiatake Ibori. In a statement released by the President General of Oghara Youth Association, Comr. Favour Ededey, he asserted that it is totally false and he wholly disassociates himself and the entire Oghara Youths from such falsehood. He affirms that Chief William Makinde, the MD Desopadec and Hon. Ibori are both worthy children of Oghara in whom the youths are well pleased. He further stated that the youths of Oghara did not besiege or lay any threats to the movement of the said Chief Makinde but that a few youths paid a courtesy call on the MD to get clarity on certain issues with regards to benefits accruable to the community from the commission.
Comr. Ededey further stated that the issue is being resolved peacefully and devoid of violence as Chief Makinde is a frontline political leader in Ethiope West whose reputation the youths of Oghara hold dear and are ready to protect at all times.
