​Let’s talk about one of the biggest myths on the internet today: "Detoxifying."

​You’ve seen the ads. "Drink this green tea to flush toxins from your system!" "Buy these pills to cleanse your body!"
​As biochemistry students, we know the truth. You don't need a $50 smoothie to detoxify your body. You already own the most advanced, highly evolved, chemical-filtration plant in the known universe: Your Liver.
🧬 The Science Fact: Your liver uses a massive family of enzymes called Cytochrome P450. These molecular machines take toxic, non-polar molecules (like drugs, alcohol, and metabolic waste) and make them water-soluble so your kidneys can excrete them.
​No magical tea can do what Cytochrome P450 does every single second of your life.

​So, the next time an influencer tries to sell you a "detox cleanse," just smile, take a sip of water, and thank your liver for doing the real work.

​I usually try to stay calm. You know, maintaining a steady Resting Potential of -70mV. 😐 ​But the moment you walked into the lab? Depolarization. ⚡​You must be a high-affinity ligand because you bind to my receptors instantly. My ion channels opened, sodium rushed in, and now I’m firing action potentials that I can’t control.
​My heart is in a sympathetic nervous system overdrive (Fight or Flight? No, it's just "Love"). My dopamine is spiking. My serotonin is dysregulated. I'm basically a walking biochemical storm, and it's all your fault.

​In the 1990s, a researcher named Katalin Karikó was obsessed with a molecule called mRNA.

​Her idea? To use mRNA to teach our cells how to make their own medicine.

​The problem? It didn't work. The experiments failed. Her university demoted her. She lost her funding. Her colleagues told her to switch fields because her obsession was a "dead end."
​She refused to quit.

Dear love,

Are we replicating? Because I feel like I’m finally building something permanent. Before you, my days felt like Okazaki fragments—short, disconnected, and full of gaps. I was just drifting through the nucleus, waiting for something to make sense. Then you arrived like DNA Ligase. 🧬 You sealed the breaks. You connected the pieces. You turned my disjointed moments into a continuous, leading strand.
I know relationships can be stressful (denaturing, even), but I promise our bond isn't just a weak hydrogen attraction. We have a sugar-phosphate backbone.
