The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) designated February 20th as World Day of Social Justice in 2007. This decision was made to recognize the importance of social justice in achieving peace, security, and human rights. The Objectives of World Day of Social Justice includes to recognize the importance of social justice in achieving peace, security, and human rights, eliminate poverty, promote Fairness and Equality, encourage international cooperation to address global challenges and promote social justice, amongst others. The theme of the 2025 World Day of Social Justice is "Empowering Inclusion: Bridging Gaps for Social Justice,β which focuses on the necessity of policies and social protection to combat systemic inequalities. It underscores the importance of creating equitable opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their backgrounds. Some of the ways by which the World Day of Social Justice can be observed include raising awareness, organization of events to discuss social justice issues and promote solutions, donation to organizations working towards social justice, or volunteer your time to support their efforts. A foremost activist, Nelson Mandela once said, "The struggle for social justice is a continuous one." As we commemorate World Day of Social Justice, let us recommit ourselves to this ongoing struggle and work towards creating a more just and equitable world for all.
