AVOID PENALTIES FROM CAC ON YOUR REGISTERED BUSINESS BY FILING YOUR ANNUAL RETURNS PROMPTLY!

Annual Returns filing is a compulsory payment required from every registered business owner on a yearly basis, counting from 18 months after the date of registration for business names and companies.

These payments are quite insignificant just #3,000 for business name and #5,000 for companies but because most business owners ignore them, they keep piling up year after year with penalties that follow as a result of default, to the extent that it becomes too heavy.

Failure to file these annual returns puts your business in red light as you could be denied a contract, business visa application, and even possibility of having your business bank account frozen.

WAIVER OF PENALTIES AND INTERESTS ON OUTSTANDING TAX LIABILITIES

In recognition of the challenges that many taxpayers have faced in settling their outstanding tax liabilities and in line with the commitment of the current government to su pport businesses, the Federal inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has approved the following concessions for taxpayers with outstanding tax liabilities, in accordance with Section 32 of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, LFN 2004 as amended:

• Full waiver of penalties on all outstanding tax liabilities
• Full waiver of interest on outstanding tax liabilities
Taxpayers are advised that the waiver of interest is subject to the full settlement of outstanding principal on or before 31 December 2023.

Please note that the full penalty and interest shall be reinstated after the expiration of this one-off concession window where the outstanding undisputed liability remains fully or partially unpaid.

The FIRS appreciates all taxpayers who have been diligent in complying with their tax obligations as and when due while seeking their continued support and cooperation for a more responsive and robust tax system.
