Baraden Nasarawa: A Public Servant Defined by Integrity

In Nasarawa State’s public service, few titles carry as much weight as “ Baraden Nasarawa" and few public officers embody its meaning like Dr. Musa Ahmed Muhammed, the state Accountant General.

Known across government circles and communities for his measured approach and commitment to due process, Dr. Muhammed has built a reputation as a technocrat who prioritizes transparency, accountability, and prudence in the management of public funds.

Colleagues describe him as meticulous and uncompromising when it comes to financial discipline. He insists that every kobo must be accounted for, a senior official in the Ministry of Finance said. “That insistence has strengthened trust in the state’s financial processes.”

Beyond the office, Baraden Nasarawa is recognized for his calm temperament and accessibility. Traditional leaders, civil servants, and citizens alike note that he listens before acting and is guided by fairness rather than expediency.

His presence at key state events, including the recent coronation of the Aren Eggon in Nasarawa Eggon, underscores his role not only as an administrator but as a bridge between government and traditional institutions. In each appearance, he has consistently emphasized the link between financial integrity and sustainable development.

In a public service environment where trust is hard-earned, Dr. Musa Ahmed Muhammed’s record has made “integrity” more than a title. For many in Nasarawa, it is a description that fits.🙏🙏🙏

The visit took place shortly after the installation ceremony in Nasarawa Eggon, Nasarawa State, where traditional rulers and dignitaries from across the North-Central region gathered to witness the formal recognition of Justice Alaku as the paramount ruler of the Eggon nation.

During the courtesy call, the Ejeh of Ankpa congratulated the Onu Igala Lafia and emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among traditional institutions in Kogi and neighboring states. STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENT FOR TRANSPARENCY: SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCERS PARTNER NASARAWA PENSION BUREAU

(Social Media Influencers Nasarawa State Chapter Reporting)

The Nasarawa State Social Media Influencers Forum has strengthened its commitment to transparency and public engagement with a courtesy visit to the Nasarawa State Pension Bureau, where they were received on behalf of the Director General by the Director of Human Resources, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim (Walin Arikiya).

The visit, led by the Chairman of the Forum, Comrade Aliyu Ibrahim Orah, was aimed at fostering collaboration, enhancing public awareness, and obtaining accurate information on the operations and achievements of the Bureau. In his remarks, the Chairman emphasized the group’s readiness to build a constructive partnership that will promote credible information dissemination and support institutional integrity.

Further elaborating on the mission, the Chief of Staff of the Forum, Baba Vuga, noted that the engagement was designed to bridge the information gap between the Bureau and the public. He stressed that the Forum remains committed to countering misinformation, addressing unwarranted criticisms, and projecting the true efforts of the government in pension administration.

In response, the Director of Human Resources, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, warmly appreciated the visit and commended the initiative. He highlighted the remarkable strides recorded under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, describing him as a pensioners-friendly Governor whose administration has demonstrated uncommon dedication to the welfare of retirees.

He noted that the Sule administration has made significant progress in settling outstanding gratuity, particularly addressing arrears spanning several years, including those affecting both state and local government retirees. According to him, the government has institutionalized consistent monthly payments alongside periodic settlement of arrears of gratuity, ensuring improved financial stability for pensioners.

The Director further disclosed that the administration has implemented Twenty Thousand Naira (20,000)each,across the board to all retired civil servants in the state, and also introduced supportive measures such as bonuses and welfare incentives to give pensioners a stronger sense of belonging. He emphasized that the Bureau operates an open-door policy, remaining accessible on all working days to attend to inquiries, complaints, and clarifications from pensioners promptly.

Addressing a critical issue, he clarified that pension benefits are computed based on the last implemented grade level. Therefore, cases where promotions were not formally effected before retirement are treated according to the previously implemented level, in line with established civil service regulations. He urged the public to understand this standard practice to avoid misconceptions.

The Bureau, through its leadership and Public Relations Office, expressed full readiness to collaborate with the Social Media Influencers Forum in promoting transparency, public enlightenment, and institutional trust.

The engagement concluded on a positive note with a vote of thanks delivered by Comrade Salisu Galadima, who appreciated the Bureau for its openness and reaffirmed the Forum’s commitment to responsible information dissemination. The visit ended with group photographs, symbolizing a new phase of partnership and mutual understanding.

The Nasarawa State Pension Bureau continues to demonstrate professionalism, foresight, and dedication in managing pension affairs, while the visionary leadership of His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi Sule remains instrumental in repositioning the system toward efficiency, accountability, and sustained welfare for pensioners.
