Section 20 of the National Health Care Act provides that a health care provider, health worker or health establishment shall not refuse a person emergency medical treatment for any reason.

For no reason should a person be denied medical treatment in the case of an emergency. The keyword here is emergency, a gunshot victim does not need a police report before treatment is being administered, likewise, money should not be a reason for not treating a patient, so far it is an emergency

Any person who contravenes this section commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine or imprisonment or both.

Yesterday the 27/09/21, I met my university school classmate Dimowo Joseph at The High Court of Edo State, Auchi Criminal Division but that is not the story. The penchant story remains that we both came to court pro bono on behalf of indigent awaiting trial inmates of the remand and correctional facilities spread across Nigerian. According to a report published by Juliana Francis of Sahara Reporters Media Group on 12/04/2021, awaiting trial inmates cost the Nigerian Government about 8 billion annually, the inadequacies of our justice system allegedly retains a larger ratio in effect to this assertion.

In line with the set-out pro bono activities to provide legal aid where possible and necessary by aydlegal.com and the current necessity by the Covid 19 pandemic, we at aydlegal.com shall continue to prosecute briefs of such indigent persons judiciously as resources permit in the interest of Justice and the overall safety of our society at large. We call on all key players/partakers in the effective dispensation of Justice in our legal ecosystem to play their appropriate parts ferociously; the majority of which lies to the government of the day traceable to any distinct arm as it may apply.

We enjoin the public to continue to stay safe and obey all government-sanctioned regulations to curb/eradicate the unfortunate

Defamation is the act of communicating false statements about a person that injure the reputation of that person when observed through the eyes of ordinary man. Any false and unprivileged statement published or spoken deliberately, intentionally, knowingly with the intention to damage someone's reputation is defamation. An individual's reputation is treated as his property and such damage are punishable by law.

A true statement which is written or spoken about an individual or any legal entity insofar as it can be proved by such entity is not categorized as defamation.

Defamation can be libellous and/or slanderous in nature depending on the form which it communicates through I.e. written or spoken.

Corporate organisations are not left out as any legal entity recognized by relevant laws can sue and be sued either within or outside the context of defamation.

Reputation is an asset to each and every one. Any damage to such asset can be legally dealt with. Defamation laws have been enacted to prevent persons maliciously using their right to freedom of speech and expression.

Defamation can either be enforced in a civil or criminal proceedings and in some cases the both.
