Iranian case is so confusing.

Is it sovereignty of the people or sovereignty of religion?

I don't understand how IRGC became the sovereignty of the state of Iran. I was taught IRGC is a religious regime. I read also that Iran is also a presidential government. A State supposed to be different from religion. How then did a religion superceded the State and controls it to the distaste of the Iranian civilian populace? How on earth a people that professes a faith in God/Allah a spiritual Being began to run a worldly government that takes pleasure in acquisition of weapons of mass destruction, exporting same to their allies to engage in terror attacks against other nations and uses same weapon to eliminate its own citizens for protesting against their cruel ideology and actions?

The people of Iran has awakened to the truth that a religion should not be a yardstick for their sovereignty, and that decision should be respected and they should be allowed to have a regime change where religion will remain a personal thing different from civilian government.
