Provision of Single Member/Shareholder Companies.
The minimum number of persons that can set up a private company is now reduced to 1 (One) member or shareholder as opposed to the minimum 2 (Two) that was required in the old CAMA. This implies that persons interested in registering shelf companies need not have more than one shareholder. The regulatory compliance matters for such companies are less burdensome. They are not required to hold annual general meetings or comply with the audit requirements of the Act.

Living life or doing anything at all without knowledge and understanding will produce much struggle and lots of mistakes.

I remember getting out of school with so much excitement and ready to exploit my legal skills. Well, little did I know that legal practice as thought in school (theory) is largely different from real life practice.

I launched in to practice as a business lawyer mostly unprepared. Oh yes I had my fair share of struggles and mistakes until with God’s help I learnt the ropes (still learning though).

Now, I believe that the younger ones coming up don’t have to make the same mistakes or go through the same struggles like I did.

In my own way of giving back, I am having a free session to share with young lawyers and undergraduates “GETTING STARTED AS A BUSINESS LAWYER: THE REAL DEAL.” On Wednesday, 13th October, 2021 via Zoom.
