Not until NYSC threw me to the north, I never had the chance to explore other northern states. So, the day I visited the north central, Abuja, i was thrilled.
On that faithful day, a sense of comfortability clamored my reasoning. Boarding a commercial car from the motor garage to Gwarinpa (my destination) was out of the norm especially when the driver announced the totality of expected passengers, which would be seven, four at the back seat and two at the front.
“What?” I exclaimed. “No way!”
In my unrest state, I looked at the space of the car, which normally should accommodate five people including the driver. But seven people! Haba! Am I some cargo?, but what to do? I readjusted to my suppose space, patiently waiting for others.
Soon, they joined.
“Madam shift,” a passenger told me.
I looked at my left-hand side to reconfirm if truly there was space left.
“shift?” I called out. “There is no space”
As patient as I could be if the space was the only reality, that would have been better. But with the body odour coming from one of the passengers, I pass!. No disrespect but the odour was choking. I couldn’t cope. Within seconds, I dashed out of the car.
“I’m not going again” was what I found my lips telling.
After a long wait, I realized I can spare one thousand naira for a private taxi. “Abegi, who says life isn’t easy? That was my thought when I finally boarded the taxi.
The minute I sat beside the driver, I dived into an ocean of imagination. A purposeful life i clamoured. A life full of services and happening. A life of growth and luxury. A life of......
“Madam we don reach” the driver called out, interrupting my thought.
Oh! “Thank you,” I said majestically Stepping out of the taxi.
I couldn't help but felt on top of the world.
I’ll sure do this again!.
