In case you notice some squatters on your land, don't wait for them to stay on the land for a long period of time that might become difficult to eject them to take ownership of your land.
What steps should you take? You will need to approach your lawyer for a quick step. Sometimes, it may not necessarily instituting an action in court but there are other legal steps.
There is a special procedure provided by the Rules of the Honourable Court to enable owners of land to summarily seek possession of their land or any portion of their land that may have been occupied by squatters or any person without the owner's consent, especially where the owner of the land does not know the name or identity of the person in occupation of his land.
The benefits envisaged by the special summary procedure only ensure where the person seeking to take advantage thereof can imperatively establish and prove the following:
(a) He is the owner of the land or the person entitled to possession of the land in issue;
(b) The person in occupation of the land is not a tenant of the owner;
(c) The person in occupation of the land is not a licensee of the owner or that of any person entitled to possession of the land;
(d) The person in occupation of the land is not a person who has the consent of the predecessor in title of the person entitled to possession of the land
