In his address, the Provost of CAILS, Prof. Abdulganiy Abdussalam stated that the programme is a seminar of very important theme, on peace stability and security in the country.

He explained that the premise of the programme highlights a book written by a Turkish scholar; Fethulah Gullen who explored the life of the prophet and sifted out some important lesson to be learnt by societies on peace building.

Abdussalam stated that the book titled: "Annur Alkhalid" which explored the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, tasks Muslims to emulate the life and manner of the prophet on how he promotes peaceful co-exiatence during his life time.

He commended such laudable partnership with the Turkish company, while reiterating that CAILS would continue to contribute its quota to the development of Kwara and Nigeria as a whole.

The Provost also commended Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the support for the College while seeking for more assistance to reposition the foremost institution on Arabic and Islamic Studies.

Also speaking, the Representative of Nusret, Malam Abubakar Balarabe described the gathering as one that promotes peace and development of the society.

"The Holy Prophet Muhammad has enjoined that peace should reign across the whole world.

"The character of the Holy Prophet Muhammad is not for only Muslims but for the entire humanity because He was sent to the whole humanity.

"The message of the prophet is a mercy to all mankind," he said.

Balarabe described Nusret as a company whose main service focus on organising conferences, both national and international, seminars and workshops.

He also explained that the organisation also engages in humanitarian services including feeding the indigents during Ramadan and promotion of education.

In his presentation, Prof. AbdulHamid Badmus, the former sub-Dean Faculty of Arts of the University of Ilorin stated that the programme lay emphasis on the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad and his conduct towards promoting peace and security

Prof. Badmus stated that the life of Prophet Muhammad should be emulated in terms of improving and developing the society we live in.

"The main focus of the seminar is how we can benefit from the life of the prophet in such a way that we will be able to develop and improve our society.

"The main focus again is to see how we can walk-the-talk, because as Muslims we know the Quran and the life of the prophet.

"But we have not been able to translate the lessons learnt of his life into the human society," he said.

Also speaking, the Chief Imam of CAILS, Dr Musliudeen Alkarawiy lamented on the rise in insecurity in the country.

He urged the Muslims to borrow from the practical solutions that Prophet Muhammad deployed on conflict resolution.

He advised Nigerians on tolerance to each other, while also calling on government to ensure justice prevail in the society.

Similarly, Prof. Shuaib Ologele-Suyuti of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies enjoined Muslims to learn and imbibe the lessons of the month of Dhul Hijjah, saying that the month enjoins striving towards doing good and helping the less privileged.

2026 SCHOOL OF LAW MOOT COURT TRIAL CEREMONY

The Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS), Ilorin, came alive with intellectual excitement and dramatic display during its 2026 School of Law Moot Court Trial Ceremony, an annual academic event designed to expose students to practical courtroom procedures and advocacy skills.

The ceremony commenced with a captivating drama presentation staged by students of the School of Law. The performance centered on a fictional but thought-provoking case involving the mysterious death of Mr. Odewole at Apex Hotel. In the storyline, the hotel management initially attempted to conceal the circumstances surrounding his death, raising suspicion and public concern. However, following a thorough investigation by the Police, the case took a new turn. The eventual autopsy report revealed the true cause of death, leading to the prosecution of those found culpable and the formal charging of the case before a competent court of law.

The dramatic presentation seamlessly transitioned into a mock trial session, where students assumed the roles of prosecution and defense counsel, witnesses, and court officials. With remarkable confidence and legal acumen, the participants demonstrated their understanding of courtroom decorum, legal procedures, and the application of law in resolving complex cases. The exercise not only entertained the audience but also underscored the importance of justice, transparency, and due process in society.

The event attracted a wide array of dignitaries and stakeholders within and outside the College community. Leading the management team was the College Provost, alongside the Deputy Provost (Academic), Registrar, Chief Librarian, Director of Works, Deans and Directors, Deputy Registrars, Heads of Departments, and School Secretaries. Also in attendance were proud parents, guardians, and well-wishers who gathered to witness the academic growth and professional development of the students.

In his remarks, the invited Judge, who presided over the mock trial session, highly commended the students for their outstanding performances. He described their advocacy skills, presentation of arguments, and adherence to courtroom procedures as exceptional and commendable, noting that many of the participants displayed a level of competence comparable to that of practicing legal professionals. He further encouraged the students to remain dedicated, uphold the ethics of the legal profession, and continue striving for excellence.

In a heartfelt vote of appreciation, the Dean of the School of Law expressed profound gratitude to the entire staff and team of the School for their unwavering support, cooperation, and commitment towards the successful hosting of the ceremony. The Dean noted that the achievement recorded was a collective effort and applauded the spirit of unity and dedication demonstrated by all.

As part of the highlights of the ceremony, special appreciation and presentation of gifts were made to deserving individuals for their invaluable contributions to the growth of the School. The invited Judge was honoured for his time and professional guidance. The Moot Court Coordinator, Barr. Usman Yusuf Abdulsalam, was also specially recognized for his tireless efforts in organizing and sustaining the Moot Court activities.

Similarly, the School acknowledged the immense contributions of its visiting lecturers, including Hon. Judge Abdukyaqeen and Magistrate Imam, who have selflessly dedicated over four years to teaching and mentoring students without financial compensation. Their commitment was described as a rare demonstration of passion and service to legal education.

Furthermore, the immediate past Acting Provost of the College, Dr. Saad Hadi, was appreciated and presented with a gift as a distinguished friend of the School. His dedication and commitment were particularly recognized, especially for his pivotal role in achieving a landmark feat for the College—securing approval to run the National Diploma in Law programme, making the institution the first in the federation to attain such recognition.

The ceremony concluded on a high note, with accolades given to the participating students for their outstanding performances and dedication.
