CHILD RIGHT ACT:PROTECTING THE RIGHT OF CHILDREN IN NIGERIA

“The Child Rights Act in Nigeria is a government initiative aimed at protecting the nation’s youngest members. According to this Act, a child is defined as anyone under the age of 18. In this post, we will explore the first and most important right , Right to life.

Right to Life and Survival: The C.R.A guarantees that every child has the right to life, survival, and development. No parent has the right to take the life of his child , whether before or after birth. Such act amount to murder.

This also places a responsibility on parents to provide their children with essential necessities like food, clothing, and shelter. According to the C. R.A and criminal code it’s a criminal offence for parents to abandon their ward or fail to provide them with food and other necessities.

Always remember when you provide your wards with basic necessities, you are not doing them a favor, but only performing the responsibilities the law and God has given you.

In the next post we shall be examining another important right, Right to Education. Don’t miss it.
