1. Regulatory Compliance covers a gamut of things including registrations, licensing, certifications etc. that enable business owners position their businesses for maximization of profits, expansion and perpetuation. It covers issues touching on requirements of the law that position businesses to maximize opportunities, protect their names, brands, products, profit, good will among other things that make for business growth, viability and expansion.
Issues like business registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission and other agencies set up to regulate business operations as they touch on the provisions of particular products or services example Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), NAFDAC, EFCC’s Special Control Unit against Money Laundering (SCUML) Certificate among many others are issues of regulatory compliance.


2 : Some laws which regulate certain businesses sanction non-compliance with their provisions. To this end, businesses which do not comply with the provisions of such laws risk being sanctioned by the applicable regulatory agencies responsible for the enforcement of the said laws. Such sanctions include fines, striking off the names of such businesses from the appropriate registers, closure of the business premises, etc. Timeous compliance with the provisions of such laws is therefore necessary.
