🏠 BUYING PROPERTY FROM SOMEONE LIVING ABROAD? ASK FOR THE POWER OF ATTORNEY!
Before you pay for a property being sold on behalf of an owner who lives abroad, one important question should be:
“Where is the Power of Attorney authorizing you to act for the owner?”
A POA helps establish that the person negotiating or signing the transaction has the owner’s authority to act on their behalf. Without proper authorization, you could pay for a property only to discover later that the person who sold it to you had no legal authority to do so.
✅ Verify the owner’s identity and ownership documents.
✅ Confirm the POA is genuine and properly executed.
✅ Ensure it specifically covers the property transaction.
✅ Have a qualified property lawyer conduct proper due diligence before you pay.
Don’t let distance make you careless. Verify before you buy!
