Ozoemena! Meaning - May the worst not happen again in our lives. But will the worst stop from happening just because we wish or decree it? I believe not.
We are grieving the death of a 61-year-old young wife and a mother. Before we could say jack, one of us lost his son, who is less than 25 years old and unmarried. What debt do we owe death? Can we avoid death?
Death is one of the mysteries of creation. If we can put a stop to death, then there is no longer a mystery to God of creation. What is the take from death? The lessons one can derive from death at 61 can vary depending on the context and perspective. Here are some possible lessons:

- Appreciate life's brevity*: Death at 61 can serve as a reminder to cherish every moment and make the most of the time we have.
- Prioritise relationships*: Nurturing relationships with loved ones becomes even more crucial when we acknowledge our mortality.

In the high-stakes world of business, avoiding a costly and time-consuming trademark infringement lawsuit is a top priority for any organization. Trademark rights and laws, varying across different jurisdictions, aim to prevent confusion among consumers regarding the origin of goods or services. If a trademark office or court determines there’s a likelihood of confusion, the financial and reputational repercussions can be severe. With average litigation costs ranging from $120,000 to $750,000 and the potential for prolonged legal battles, the impact on any company can be staggering.

Regardless of their size, companies face significant challenges when defending against a trademark infringement claim. For large organizations, the damage extends beyond financial losses to potential harm to their public image, especially when these disputes make headlines.

In this blog post, we’ll explore nine nasty trademark disputes, many of which involve brands you’re familiar with, along with some key lessons learned.

1. 3M v3N
Multinational conglomerate 3M filed a lawsuit against Changzhou Huawei Advanced Material Co Ltd for using the name “3N” on their products. Despite differences in the products and pricing, 3M claimed that “3N” was designed to mislead consumers and infringe on their well-known trademark.

3M argued that the use of “3N” was intentionally confusing and that the similar mark had allowed Changzhou Huawei Advanced Material Co Ltd to acquire clients and market share by leveraging 3M’s established reputation.

Verdict in favour of 3M.

Lesson learned: Choosing a name that closely mimics a well-known brand, regardless of product differences, can still result in infringement claims and significant legal penalties if it is deemed likely to create consumer confusion Trademark protection is essential for maintaining brand integrity.

I am writing my autobiography. The first autobiography is The African Child written by Camara Laye the African Child. The setting of the Novel is a pre-colonial African setting. But my setting is post-in-dependence where the responsibilities were hipped on the so-called elders of the family who knew nothing about the traditions and customs, they are supposed to be the custodians of.
Some time ago, I had a reason to be at a police station where I heard the most despicable act was done on the dead. You will ask, what act can be more despicable to the dead? Well, when a younger brother exhumes the body of the elder brother who had been buried for three days, put used tyres on the dead and set fire to it. To the Indians and those who believe in cremation, this means nothing. But to most in Africa who believe in reincarnation, it is a sacrilege and crass desecration of the dead. As my people would say, elders cannot stay at their home whilst a she-goat dies whilst giving birth. It’s the so-called elders who encouraged him to so do,
Where an elder takes a younger cousin and points to the younger cousin where the younger cousin ought to build his house without the demarcation/demarcation, what seed is the so-called elder sowing in the heart of the brothers? Where a cousin sells his cousin's land on the pretence that the land is so hot that nobody can live on it? The question is, the person who is buying the land, is it for the Angels to live on it and not humans? It is situations like this that lead to the discretion dead. Our customs should not be abolished. But elders like, should be given a back seat. The novel will be dropping.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) member states adopted a historic new treaty on intellectual property, genetic resources, and associated traditional knowledge on May 24, 2024.
*Key Provisions*: The treaty establishes a new disclosure requirement for patent applicants whose inventions are based on genetic resources and/or associated traditional knowledge.
*Entry into Force*: The treaty will enter into force once 15 contracting parties have signed it.
*Significance*: This treaty marks a historic breakthrough, capping decades of negotiations, and is the first WIPO treaty to address the interface between intellectual property, genetic resources, and traditional knowledge.
*Inclusion*: It is also the first WIPO treaty to include provisions specifically for Indigenous Peoples as well as local communities.
