How to File Your Tax Under Nigeria’s New Tax Act (2026 Guide)

• Confirm you’re required to file (all income earners must file, even with PAYE)
• Get your TIN and link it to your BVN/NIN
• Gather documents (payslips, PAYE records, other income, deductions)
• Calculate your taxable income
• Log in to your state tax portal (e.g. FCTIRS portal)
• Complete and submit your tax return form
• Pay any outstanding tax due
• Download your filing receipt/confirmation
• Apply for a Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) if needed
• Keep records for audit and compliance
Deadline: On or before March 31
Late filing = penalties
