Sometimes, the strongest among us are fighting battles we know nothing about.

Behind the smiles, professional achievements and everyday responsibilities are people who may simply need someone to listen, understand or remind them that they are not alone.

This World Mental Health Day, our Welfare Secretary, Adonai Yvonne Ugochi, Esq., reminds us that welfare is more than a responsibility; it is a culture of compassion, empathy and genuine concern for one another.

At the NBA Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), we are committed to building a community where every member feels seen, valued and supported.

Check on a colleague. Be kind. Make room for rest. And remember, you deserve care too.

Happy World Mental Health Day 2026!

Our Members. Our People. Our Priority.

MENTAL HEALTH IS HEALTH, AND IT DESERVES OUR ATTENTION

This World Mental Health Day, we bring you an important perspective from a medical practitioner on the need to prioritise our mental and emotional well-being.

In a profession where pressure, expectations and responsibilities often take centre stage, recognising when to pause, seek support and care for ourselves is essential.

At the NBA Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), we believe that caring for our members also means encouraging informed conversations about their health and well-being.

Your mental health matters. Seeking help is strength, not weakness.

As lawyers, we are often expected to have the answers, find solutions and remain strong for others, even when we are struggling ourselves.

Today, we want to remind you that you matter beyond what you do.

At the Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), we believe that the true strength of our Bar lies not only in the professional excellence of our members, but also in how we care for one another.

We are committed to building a community where welfare goes beyond words, where colleagues feel supported, and where conversations about mental health are met with compassion rather than judgment.

Through this message from our Branch Chairman, we reaffirm that your well-being is not an afterthought. It is a priority.

So today, check on a colleague. Make room for rest. Extend kindness. And remember to care for yourself, too.

Because before the titles, the achievements and the responsibilities, we are people first.

Happy World Mental Health Day 2026!

THE CONVERSATION CONTINUES: LEGAL PRACTITIONERS’ REMUNERATION ORDER 2023

What does the enforcement of the Legal Practitioners’ Remuneration Order 2023 mean for the Nigerian legal profession?

Following the FCT Lawyers’ Town Hall Meeting, we spoke with lawyers to hear their perspectives on fair remuneration, the challenges of enforcement, accessibility of legal services, and what effective implementation means for young lawyers.

🎥 Watch the conversations. Hear the voices. Join the debate.

Because the question is no longer simply “What does the Order say?” but “How do we make it work?”
