Proactive Gender Initiatives (PGI) joined other civil society organisations at the Civil Society Roundtable on the Proposed Electoral College Model for the Women's Special Seats Bill, convened by the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) with support from the European Union.

The roundtable provided an opportunity to examine the proposed Electoral College model, draw lessons from international experiences, and discuss practical measures to strengthen the Bill. Participants also identified key advocacy priorities, including transparency, accountability, equitable implementation, and ensuring that the special seats complement—rather than replace—women's participation in regular elective positions.

Together, we can build a more inclusive democracy where women have equal opportunities to lead and shape the nation's future.

The event provided a valuable platform for reflection on Nigeria’s democratic journey, celebrating key milestones, preserving our collective historical memory, and fostering meaningful conversations on the future of democracy as the nation prepares for the 2027 elections.

As we mark this important day, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting active citizenship, inclusive participation, democratic governance, and accountability.

NATIONWIDE DISPLAY OF PRELIMINARY REGISTER OF VOTERS FOR CLAIMS AND OBJECTIONS IS ONGOING!

If you have recently registered to vote, transferred your registration, or updated your personal information, you are advised to verify that your details are accurately captured on the Preliminary Register of Voters.

Visit your local office to file a claim if:

1. Your name does not appear on the register.
2. Your names or personal details are misspelled.
3. Your information is incomplete or inaccurate.

You may file a formal objection if you identify any individual on the register who is:

1. Under the age of 18.
2. A non-citizen of Nigeria.
3. Not a resident within the specific registration area.
4. Deceased.
5. Legally incapacitated.

Date: 20th April – 26th April 2026
Time: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily
Location: All INEC Local Government Area (LGA) offices nationwide.

Verifying the register is a critical step in ensuring the integrity of the electoral process. Please ensure you visit the designated INEC office in your LGA within the specified timeframe to confirm your eligibility.
