: Task Force Moves Against Invitation Defaulters as 3 Remanded Over Alleged Illegal Property Resale

…Dr. Ajulo vows tougher crackdown, says those evading invitations will soon be apprehended

The Ondo State Anti-Land Grabbing Task Force has issued a stern warning to individuals who have repeatedly ignored its invitations, declaring that the era of evading investigation is over as the Task Force moves to intensify enforcement across the State.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, who also serves as Chairman of the Anti-Land Grabbing Task Force, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, OON, disclosed that several individuals who have consistently failed to honour invitations issued by the Task Force are now on the radar of law enforcement agencies and will soon be apprehended.

Dr. Ajulo explained that the Task Force's approach has always been to first invite parties involved in disputes, review available documents, and explore amicable resolutions where possible before resorting to prosecution.

He, however, expressed that some individuals have deliberately refused to cooperate with lawful investigations, thereby frustrating efforts aimed at resolving disputes through peaceful and lawful means.

"We have compiled the list of those who have consistently ignored invitations from the Task Force despite several opportunities given to them. The law must take its course. Those who think they can evade accountability by refusing to honour invitations should understand that there is nowhere to hide." He said.

The Attorney-General said that the operations of the Task Force are firmly rooted in the rule of law and due process, stressing that all necessary legal procedures, including the procurement of appropriate warrants where necessary, are being followed.

"Appropriate legal processes have been activated, and those involved will soon be brought before the law. The days of treating government invitations with contempt are over. As the Chief Law Officer of the State, I have a duty to ensure that every action taken by the Task Force complies with the law. Governor Aiyedatiwa is a strong believer in the rule of law, and while we are determined to eliminate land grabbing, we will do so lawfully, fairly, and professionally." The AG stated.

Dr. Ajulo cited the recent arraignment of three defendants before the Magistrate Court sitting in Oke-Eda, Akure, as a clear example of the Task Force’s commitment to enforcing the law.

The defendants, Adinlewa Gbenga Alex, Niyi Adinlewa, and Sylvanus Monday Ogbonna, were arraigned over allegations linked to the disputed ownership and alleged resale of two lock-up shops and adjoining property previously purchased by Mrs. Florence Oluwatoyin Adedotun from the late Mr. Julius Adinlewa.

However, following the death of their father, the sons allegedly challenged the ownership of the property, claiming that their father never sold it, despite documents said to have established the sale. The property was later resold to a third party, Sylvanus Monday Ogbonna, thereby creating conflicting ownership claims. It was also alleged that despite being informed of the circumstances surrounding the property and the existing ownership dispute, the third defendant continued to pursue the transaction and allegedly took steps capable of undermining the rights of the lawful purchaser.

In the end, the law took its course, and the defendants were remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending the determination of their bail conditions, as the case continues before the court.

Dr. Ajulo reiterated that those who are currently evading invitations should take note that the hands of the law will soon catch up with them.

"The Anti-Land Grabbing Task Force remains resolute, and there will be no safe haven for anyone involved in illegal land transactions in Ondo State." He stressed.

A Memorable Morning in New York with His Excellency, Dr Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR!

A trip to North America for my daughter's graduation in Toronto unexpectedly led to one of the most meaningful moments of my journey. While in New York, I had the privilege of meeting Ambassador Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR, Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, for a breakfast discussion at my residence, Millennium Hilton One UN Plaza.

The meeting offered valuable insight into Nigeria's diplomatic engagement at the world's foremost international institution. What began as a brief conversation became an engaging exchange on diplomacy, governance, leadership, international relations, and Nigeria's role in the evolving global order.

Dr. Ibrahim, renowned for his intellect and accomplishments across business, public service, and diplomacy, spoke with depth and candour. Our discussion explored multilateral diplomacy and opportunities for Nigeria and Africa within the changing landscape of global governance.

Following breakfast, Ambassador Ibrahim graciously invited me to visit his office at the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations, where I gained firsthand insight into the work of Nigeria's diplomatic team in advancing our national interests.

His office reflected both elegance and purpose, embodying Nigeria's diplomatic presence. Most striking, however, was the Ambassador's commitment to service, dedication to projecting Nigeria positively, and confidence in our country's potential.

As I departed, I reflected on the significance of the encounter. Amid the joy of celebrating my daughter's achievement, the morning reinforced how meaningful conversations with visionary individuals can inspire optimism about the future.

It was a memorable part of an already special journey, blending family celebration with the value of friendship, intellectual exchange, and patriotic service. For this hospitality and insightful engagement, I remain grateful to Ambassador Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR, whose dedication to Nigeria's cause at the United Nations exemplifies the highest ideals of diplomacy and national service.

Congratulations to Ambassador Senator Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR, on His Election as Chairman of the United Nations Budget and Administration Committee

Today marks a proud moment for Nigeria, Africa, and indeed all who believe in the power of vision, intellect, and purposeful leadership.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Ambassador Senator Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR, on his election this morning as Chairman of the United Nations Budget and Administration Committee—an extraordinary achievement coming barely weeks after his assumption of office as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

I am particularly delighted that I had the privilege of meeting him over breakfast this very morning. During our conversation, he shared with me his vision, mission, and aspirations for Nigeria’s engagement at the United Nations. What was most inspiring was not merely the scale of his dreams, but the conviction and determination with which he spoke about transforming those dreams into tangible outcomes.

Today’s victory is a testament to a simple but profound truth: dreams backed by action are possible.

This is a huge feat for Nigeria and a significant boost to Africa’s voice in the international community. It further validates the confidence reposed in him by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whose appointment of Dr. Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations has already begun to yield remarkable dividends.

I also congratulate His Excellency, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, FCA, and the good people of Ondo State, who can rightly take pride in the accomplishments of one of their most distinguished sons.

As he walked into the election this morning, I said to him: “My name is Kayode, and its meaning is ‘one who brings joy.’” I added that I had come to bring him joy today. By the grace of God, that joy has manifested.

Congratulations, Ambassador Senator Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR. May this historic election be the first of many greater accomplishments in your service to Nigeria, Africa, and humanity. The journey has only just begun, and the future looks exceedingly bright.

Sunday Dare at 60: A Life of Purpose, Patriotism, and Relentless Service

My Dear Egbon Sunday Dare,

As you gracefully attain the remarkable milestone of sixty years, I join your family, friends, associates, admirers, and countless beneficiaries of your generosity and service in celebrating a life defined by purpose, patriotism, excellence, and unwavering commitment to nation-building.

Sixty years is no ordinary accomplishment. It is a moment for reflection, gratitude, and recognition of a journey marked by impact. In your case, it is a celebration of a man who has consistently distinguished himself in every sphere he has occupied; whether as a journalist, public servant, administrator, strategist, communicator, mentor, or patriot.

From your formative years as a courageous and principled journalist, you established a reputation for professionalism, intellectual rigour, and an unwavering commitment to truth. You brought honour to the noble profession of journalism through fearless reporting, thoughtful analysis, and a deep concern for the welfare of society. Your pen was never merely an instrument of commentary; it was a tool for advocacy, enlightenment, and positive change.

Your transition into public service only amplified those qualities. As Minister of Youth and Sports Development and in the several national assignments entrusted to you, you demonstrated that leadership is not about occupying office but about creating value. You championed initiatives that inspired young Nigerians, promoted excellence in sports administration, and contributed meaningfully to the advancement of our national aspirations.

Yet beyond the public accomplishments and official recognitions lies the essence of the man I have come to know and admire, a man of uncommon energy, extraordinary dedication, and relentless commitment to any cause he believes in.

One of the most remarkable qualities about you is your absolute devotion to duty. When entrusted with responsibility, you commit yourself wholly to its success. You pursue excellence not as an aspiration but as a standard. This trait has been particularly evident in your steadfast commitment to the vision and leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Your loyalty to the ideals of the Renewed Hope Agenda and your determination to support every initiative capable of advancing the success of this administration are both admirable and inspiring. You approach every assignment with a profound sense of purpose, working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that policies, programmes, and strategic engagements achieve their intended outcomes. In an era where commitment is often professed but seldom demonstrated, you stand out as a man whose actions consistently validate his convictions.

I had the privilege of witnessing this exceptional dedication firsthand during the organisation of the recently concluded South-West Summit in Akure. Serving alongside you on the planning committee offered me a unique opportunity to observe, at close quarters, the depth of your commitment and the intensity of your work ethic.

You were relentless.

At virtually every hour of the day, and sometimes late into the night, you reached out repeatedly, not out of routine obligation but out of genuine passion for the success of the summit. You sought ideas, requested suggestions, interrogated strategies, refined plans, and pursued every conceivable avenue that could improve the quality and impact of the event. Your singular focus was excellence.

Indeed, there were moments when I found myself wondering what more you would have done had the summit been your own birthday celebration or wedding ceremony. Such was the level of commitment you brought to the assignment. No detail was too small for your attention; no challenge was too difficult for your determination; no sacrifice was too much in pursuit of success.

That extraordinary diligence, infectious enthusiasm, and unwavering sense of responsibility explain why you have earned the respect and admiration of colleagues across political, professional, and social divides. You possess that rare ability to inspire confidence, mobilise people, and transform vision into reality.

As you celebrate this diamond jubilee, it is fitting to acknowledge not only your accomplishments but also the values that have made those accomplishments possible: integrity, resilience, loyalty, discipline, humility, patriotism, and an abiding faith in the possibilities of our great nation.

Nigeria has been enriched by your service. Your colleagues have benefited from your friendship. Younger generations continue to draw inspiration from your example. And those privileged to work with you have witnessed firsthand the uncommon passion you bring to every endeavour.

As you enter this new chapter, I pray that Almighty God grants you continued good health, renewed strength, greater wisdom, enduring peace, and abundant joy. May He preserve you for many more years of impactful service to humanity and our beloved country. May your latter years surpass your former years in fulfilment, influence, and accomplishment.

Happy 60th Birthday, my Egbon Minister!

May history remember you not merely for the offices you held, but for the lives you touched, the institutions you strengthened, the young people you inspired, and the noble causes you championed with uncommon courage and conviction.

Congratulations on sixty remarkable years of purpose, service, and excellence.

Ondo AG Hails Gov. Aiyedatiwa’s Support for Legal Sector Transformation as Assembly Passes Key Justice Reform Bills

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ondo State, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo has hailed Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his unwavering support towards the transformation of the legal sector in Ondo State, describing the Governor’s commitment to institutional reforms and justice administration as visionary, impactful, and pivotal to strengthening the rule of law in the State.

Dr. Ajulo gave the commendation while welcoming the passage into law of two critical amendment bills by the Ondo State House of Assembly, aimed at strengthening the administration of justice and enhancing institutional efficiency within the State’s legal framework.

The bills, passed during plenary on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, include the amendment of the Ondo State Law Commission Law, 2001 and the Ondo State Office of the Public Defender Law, 2004.

Dr. Ajulo described the development as a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to reposition the justice sector in line with modern realities and best practices.

According to the AG, the amendments are designed to promote operational efficiency within the affected institutions, guarantee career progression and professional fulfilment for law officers in the Ministry of Justice, and prevent undue interference by legal officers outside the supervision and authority of the Office of the Attorney General.

He further noted that the reforms would strengthen coordination within the justice sector, improve legal service delivery, and reinforce professionalism across Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government.

The Attorney General commended the Ondo State House of Assembly, particularly the House Committee on Judiciary, Public Petitions, Ethics and Privileges chaired by Hon. (Barr.) Rotimi Abitogun, for their diligence and commitment to justice sector reforms.

He further extended appreciation to Governor Aiyedatiwa for his unwavering support for institutional reforms and the advancement of the justice system in Ondo State.

"Mr. Governor has continued to demonstrate an uncommon commitment to strengthening institutions and deepening the rule of law in Ondo State. His support for progressive legal reforms and efficient justice administration reflects a leadership that understands the importance of a functional legal system to governance, development, and public trust. These reforms would not have gained this momentum without his visionary backing and consistent encouragement." The AG said.

Dr. Ajulo expressed optimism that upon assent, the amended laws would further enhance justice delivery, strengthen public confidence in the legal system, and support the broader vision of building a more efficient, responsive, and people-oriented justice administration in Ondo State.

: Another Traditional Ruler Docked, Remanded Over Alleged Forceful Land Takeover in Ondo

…HAG warns lawyers, surveyors, agents aiding land grabbers, says no one will be spared

The intensified crackdown on land grabbing and related criminal activities in Ondo State recorded another major development on Wednesday as the Magistrate Court sitting in Oke-Eda, Akure, arraigned an alleged self-styled traditional ruler, Oba Adewale Boboye, the Ajagunode of Ode Community, Igoba, in Akure North Local Government Area, over alleged illegal activities connected to disputed landed property.

The monarch was arraigned on allegations bordering on conspiracy to commit felony, alleged threats issued to one Ajilegan via telephone in respect of land belonging to Olrof Company Limited at Igoba, Akure, forceful takeover of landed property belonging to the company, and the alleged use of thugs to dispossess the rightful owners of the property.

The prosecution alleged that the actions of the defendant were capable of causing breach of public peace, undermining lawful ownership of property, and creating insecurity around land transactions within the State.

The case, which attracted significant public attention, is the latest in the series of ongoing prosecutions being pursued by the Ondo State Anti-Land Grabbing Task Force as part of the government’s renewed offensive against fraudulent land dealings, forceful takeovers, intimidation of landowners, and acts capable of discouraging investment in the state.

Upon hearing the matter, the court granted the defendant bail in the sum of Two Million Naira ( #2,000,000.00), with two sureties. The court further directed that one of the sureties must be a recognised chief or traditional ruler within the Akure Magisterial Jurisdiction who must possess landed property subject to verification by the court. The defendant is also required to provide affidavit evidence and relevant documents backing the titles presented by the sureties.

Pending the perfection of the bail conditions, the monarch was remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre.

Reacting to the development, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, as well as Chairman of the Anti-Land Grabbing Task Force, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo SAN, OON reiterated that the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa remains fully committed to eradicating land grabbing and all forms of criminality associated with illegal land transactions in Ondo State.

Dr. Ajulo warned that government would not only prosecute land grabbers, but would also beam its searchlight on professionals and collaborators aiding the illegal activities.

According to him, lawyers, surveyors, land agents, and other individuals who knowingly assist, facilitate, or connive with land grabbers in perpetrating illegality and criminal acts relating to land transactions in the state would equally face the full weight of the law.

“We are widening the scope of enforcement because land grabbing does not thrive in isolation. There are collaborators and enablers who provide technical, legal, and logistical support to these criminal activities. Let it be clear that no one will be spared.

“The administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is determined to restore sanity, confidence, and lawful order to land administration in Ondo State. The era where individuals use influence, threats, violence, or fraudulent tactics to dispossess innocent citizens of their property is gradually coming to an end.

“We will continue to pursue every legitimate legal means to protect investors, genuine landowners, and ensure that Ondo State remains safe and attractive for development and economic growth." He said.

The Attorney General also expressed deep appreciation to the judiciary for its continued cooperation, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the administration of justice in land-related matters across the state. He noted that the timely interventions, firm rulings, and strict adherence to the rule of law have significantly strengthened the ongoing efforts to curb land grabbing and restore sanity to land administration in Ondo State.
