HIGHLIGHTS OF THE OCTOBER 2026 MONTHLY MEETING OF THE NIGERIAN INSTITUTION OF ESTATE SURVEYORS AND VALUERS, ABUJA BRANCH HELD AT HALL 3, NIVARE CENTRAL MALL, WUSE ZONE 3, ABUJA.

Estate surveyors and valuers within the FCT, once again, as usual, gathered at the venue for the October 2026 monthly meeting to review, discuss, get enlightened, and charter the way forward for the branch and the profession. The meeting was chaired by the objective chairman, ESV Chukwuebuka F. Anih FNIVS, MBA, Mphil, which was opened with a prayer from one of the early attendants.

A representative from the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) Abuja chapter - Eng. Chinedu Nwachukwu, on behalf of the Abuja chapter extended their invitation to the institution on their upcoming branch inauguration. A monthly lecture, thereafter, was received from the Education Committee presented by ESV Funsho Ibikunle MNIVS, and committee presentations followed from ESV Folarin Akinlotan FNIVS (Chairman, MCPD committee), ESV Sandra Peter FNIVS, ESQ (Bye-law review committee), ESV Indongesit Akpan FNIVS (Coordinator, Committee of Fellows and 7th branch chairman NIESV, Abuja) and finally a presentation of the branch women's wing led by ESV. Mrs Hajia Salamat Omar MNIVS on their upcoming health program at the branch level and the Women’s Wing National retreat program.

Highlight of the meeting was the deliberations on issues confronting the profession which after inputs, reactions and contributions from members, it was resolved that the branch should raise a memo to the national for further action.

In attendance were some prominent members of the institution like ESV. Shola Abeji FNIVS (2nd Vice-President), ESV. Nwamaka Ofoma MNIVS (National Assistant Publicity Secretary), ESV. Emmanuel Alao FNIVS (national Unofficio Council member and 8th branch chairman), ESV. Victor Ayeye (national unofficio council member), ESV. Charles Ebiai FNIVS (Chairman, National MCPD committee and 10th branch chairman), ESV. Obiora Osakwe FNIVS (3rd branch chairman) and ESV. Hajia Mrs. Salamat Omar MNIVS (Coordinator, women's wing, Abuja chapter).

The meeting ended after a motion for adjournment was moved, seconded, and then a closing prayer.

NIESV WOMEN’S WING, ABUJA BRANCH, HOLDS HER INAUGURAL MEETING OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS

The NIESV Women’s Wing, Abuja Branch, today held her inaugural meeting of members of the various committees constituted to support the activities and programmes of the Wing.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the Coordinator, ESV. Hajiya (Mrs.) Umoru Salamat, MNIVS, RSV, MSc., to formally present the various committees and outline their respective responsibilities.

The committees include:

A. Finance Committee
B. Publicity Committee
C. Welfare Committee
D. Membership Committee
E. Education Committee
F. Secretariat and ICT Committee
G. Logistics and Security Committee

Following the presentation of the committees and their responsibilities, the members were formally inaugurated and charged to contribute meaningfully towards the growth and success of the Women’s Wing.

The Branch Chairman, ESV. Chukwuebuka Anih, FNIVS, MBA, MPhil, also joined the meeting virtually. He encouraged the committee members to work together, assuring them of his support and giving his blessings towards the success of the committees and the activities of the Women’s Wing.

The meeting marked an important step towards strengthening the structure and operations of the Wing, as members begin their respective assignments and work collectively towards achieving the goals of the Women’s Wing.

The NIESV Women’s Wing, Abuja Branch, looks forward to a productive tenure filled with impactful activities, stronger member engagement and meaningful contributions to the branch and Institution.

NIESV ABUJA WOMEN'S WING EXECUTIVES PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO THE BRANCH CHAIRMAN AT THE BRANCH SECRETARIAT

The women's wing of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Abuja branch, earlier today, paid a courtesy visit to the branch chairman - ESV. Chukwuebuka Anih FNIVS, MBA, Mphil at the branch secretariat. The women's wing who was led by the branch coordinator ESV. Salamat Umoru MNIVS congratulated the chairman on his emergence as the 14th chairman of the branch, wished him well in steering the affairs of the branch and pledged their unalloyed support of the branch's women wing throughout his administration. The coordination of the women's wing also presented the programs of the wing, which they said may likely span through the tenure of this administration whilst soliciting for the support of the chairman and the branch.

The chairman thanked the entourage for their thoughtfulness and acknowledged their visitation. He also commended the women's wing for their being proactive with the scheduled programs they presented, which he said will aid the branch executives in decision making so as to avoid a clash of activities or programs. The chairman assured the women's wing of his continued support personally and as a branch which has translated to deliberate appointments of the women in key positions in various committees under the branch stating that the success and or failure of the branch will hinge more on the commitment, performance and support of the women's wing.

On a concluding note, the women's wing presented a plaque of honor / award to the chairman and a gift in honor of the occasion of his birthday. Amongst the entourage was the immediate past coordinator of the women's wing ESV. Frances Kamen Ashaolu FNIVS and other members of the executive of the women's wing.
