If a man marries under the statute, that is, court marriage and he tries to get a second wife while the first marriage is still subsisting and valid, he can be jailed for 7yrs.

It's called bigamy and it's punishable under section 370 of the Criminal Code.

The AGN has suspended Adanma Luke from producing movies or working with any actor or actress. Good move for the time being but just like other things that happens in Nigeria, we're only reactionary. Acting in retrospect, waiting for the next thing to happen with no system in place to checkmate this things from happening.

Nigerians are calling for her arrest and prosecution but aside emotions and maybe morality, will she be liable?

This person is also a victim.

The blame goes to whoever owned or operated the boat.

Who licenced the boat and the driver?

Who regulates the activity of the boats?

What are the standard safety measures?

Who polices and ensures the safety measures are obeyed?

And of course the people who did not request or insist on life jackets.

If I may add, there is also a question of whether they are employees or independent contractors (contract of service vs. contract for services).

There is also the doctrine of “Assumption of Risk” and “Contributory Negligence”.

Under the Common Law, a person who knowingly and willfully assumes a risk or is contributorily negligent is barred from recovery. They also call it Volenti Non Fit Injuria.

One would expect that a person of full age and capacity should understand the grave risk of being on a boat out in the river without a life jacket. Fully understanding the grave risk to life involved but nevertheless venturing into the “voyage” puts the person in a position where they assume the prospective risk.

I am saddened by this avoidable death, I pray for the bereaved family, and I hope that people would be more careful with their lives and choices.
Let's all leave law out of this for now and mourn the death of a fine actor.

His boss reserves the right to sack him with or without reason.
It is trite law that he who hires can fire.

However, he must immediately file an application for the enforcement of his fundamental human rights.

Immediately he closed the bathroom door to ma******te, he had secured his right to privacy, placing cameras in the convenience without informing staff, is clearly an invasion of privacy and he can claim damages by calculating what his salaries will be for 10yrs.

If you are legally required to provide goods that are of satisfactory quality, fit for their intended purpose, and free from any defects, as a seller or vendor. When a buyer discovers a defect in a purchased item, he/she has the right to return it and seek a remedy.

However, if a buyer discovers a defect in the goods, he/she is expected to take reasonable steps to mitigate his/her losses. This often includes promptly notifying the seller about the defect and ceasing further use of the goods to prevent additional damage. The expectation is that the goods will be returned to the seller in the same state it was delivered.

If a buyer continues to use the goods despite being aware of the defect, it can be interpreted as implied acceptance of the goods in their current condition. The right to return the defective goods would have been extinguished. The law will not allow you to eat your cake and have it back.

The law also makes a distinction between the husband and the wife - when a wife buys a property, and conveys it in the name of her husband, there is no presumption of advancement infavour of her husband; he holds in trust for his wife. However, if the husband purchases a property in his wife's name, this is prima facie a gift to her - see Silver v. Silver (1958) 1 All E. R.523."

In the recent Federal High Court Judgement nullifying the Abia Election.

Three things are instructive and the reason the judgement will never hold, Viz;

1. The matter is statute barred as it is a pre-election matter.

2. The Federal high court of Kano lacks jurisdiction in this circumstance. It's not every jurisdiction you assume because you're a federal high court.

3. The plaintiff Mr Haruna has no locus standi.
I can't see how he'll be directly affected by the decision of the court.

I'm sure the people of Abia State are not taking this serious.

We'll elaborate on this later

Monthly Tenancy ..... 1 month Notice

Quarterly Tenancy .. 3 months Notice

Half-Yearly Tenancy ..3 months Notice

Yearly tenancy ..... 6 months notice

Note: Your Landlord can eject you from his house at any time whether you're in arrears of rent or not.
