Any institution processing or intending to process personal data will be concerned with identifying legal basis(es) and rights of data subject particular to a legal basis. In our previous post we identified legal bases institutions can rely on to process personal data. In this post we have identified rights of data subject with respect to a particular legal basis to enlighten both the controllers/processors and data subjects on the rights of data subjects when relying on a particular legal basis to process personal data.

The tempo of commercial transactions is gradually shifting into digital space and countries of the world(Nigeria inclusive) have started moves towards a digital economy. The attendant consequence is an increase in the value of personal data. However, the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation Prohibits the processing of personal data unless there is at least a legal basis for such processing.
