PRESS STATEMENT — FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CDHR National Body Takes Over Alleged Corruption Case Against ACP Ogundele Olohunwa ---Comr. ’Yinka Folarin Leads Struggle for Compliance with CDHR Demands
The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) National Body has officially taken over the matter concerning the alleged corrupt practices of ACP Ogundele Olohunwa, the Area Commander of Abeokuta Area Command, Ogun State.
Comrade ’Yinka Folarin, the National Vice President of CDHR, confirmed that the National Body is now strictly monitoring the situation. He noted that the deadline earlier issued by the Ogun State Branch still stands and will expire in a few days. He also expressed deep concern over the misleading and reckless statements made by the embattled ACP in his attempt to demean the image of the Zone 2 Police Command under the AIG in Lagos, a senior officer who has consistently demonstrated intolerance for corruption both within the police and in public service. Records of his years of service as Area Commander in Ogun and as Commissioner of Police in Lagos attest to his professionalism, integrity, and sound leadership, except otherwise proven.
In the coming days, and upon the expiration of the ultimatum, the CDHR will invite other critical stakeholders in Ogun State including the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Nigerian students, civil society organizations, NGOs working on human rights and justice, and some victims of his indiscriminate extortions to a world press conference to expose further rot and reiterate the demand for his immediate removal.
The CDHR National Body hereby reiterates a clear and unequivocal demand: ACP Ogundele Olohunwa must be removed from office and subjected to appropriate disciplinary measures without delay. Failure of the relevant authorities to act decisively will be met with sustained resistance, wider mobilization, and the exposure of documented allegations of corrupt practices under his leadership in Abeokuta Area Command. It should be recalled that the embattled officer already has a tainted record of misconduct in service, the most recent being during his tenure as a DPO in Lagos, which led to his removal.
While acknowledging the good work of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Lanre Ogunlowo who has earned public trust through his professionalism, adoption of modern policing technology, innovations that promote inclusive participation in the fight against crime, and quality human relations, the Human Rights Community warns that such gains must not be undermined by the brazen corrupt practices of a senior officer like ACP Ogundele Olohunwa.
The Nigeria Police Force must rise to the demand for integrity, accountability, and professionalism. The CDHR will not hesitate to lead the Human Rights Community, other concerned stakeholders, and the masses to occupy the Area Command and the State capital in demand for his removal upon expiration of the ultimatum.

Comr. ’Fumbi Onifade
Chairman, CDHR Ogun State
