Your neighbour’s goat enters your farm and eats your crops.
The goat goes home happy.
You go home angry.
Then some people will say, “It’s just a goat.”
My dear, if that goat has eaten crops worth ₦500,000, it is no longer “just a goat.”
The general rule is simple:
The owner of the goat should pay for the damage caused by the goat.
People are expected to control their animals and prevent them from destroying another person’s property.
So if your goat eats my yam, cassava, maize, or vegetables, don’t bring the goat to apologise.
Bring compensation.
Do you agree, or should the farmer bear the loss because, the farmer refused to fence his farm.
