This month, we have for you Jack Ma! Keep reading, expand that knowledge of yours!

When one mentions Jack Ma, online shopping will come to mind. The founder of Alibaba, he was born and raised when Communist China was isolated from the West. With that, one would wonder how he managed to get a hand in technology?

Coming from a low income family, he was a tour guide in the city in exchange for English lessons. In fact, the name ‘Jack’ was given by a tourist. He cleared the college entrance exam at his third attempt and faced 30 rejections to secure employment.

His first online search in the US kickstarted his technology company. He discovered that Chinese products are not available on the web search and decided to create an Internet company for China. Thus, in 1999, the world saw to the birth of Alibaba. However, it only became famous in recent years. When Alibaba was brought to the isle of success, he reminded his employees to be ‘a batch of genuinely noble people, a batch of people who are able to help others, and who are kind and happy.’ This portrays the humaneness and the spirit of giving back to society which are great values.

When it comes to life, he mentioned that one should treat work happily and treat life seriously. This is because when an individual is happy, a fountain of ideas will flow out smoothly, and said individual will then become creative and innovative. After stepping down from Alibaba Group Holding executive director's position, he became involved actively to improve the welfare of the poor in China. However, he has yet to be seen or heard in public since 31 October 2020. Cautious speculations have been made on his whereabouts.
