Wishing you a joyous Diwali! – Fifteenth Lunar Day of Kartik (Full Moon)

One of the most significant festivals of India, Diwali (or Deepavali) derives its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that the devotees light in their houses in order to symbolise the inner light that drives away spiritual darkness. As per the Hindu calendar, it is celebrated on the 15th day of Kartik, which is the holiest month in the lunar calendar.

The biggest festival for Hindus, Diwali is celebrated every year by lighting diyas and worshiping Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi and is usually followed by fireworks. Besides being the festival of lights, Diwali is also the festival of love and people meet each other and exchange sweets and wishes.

May the festival of lights be the harbinger of joy and prosperity. As the holy occasion of Diwali is here and the atmosphere is filled with the spirit of mirth and love, here's hoping this festival of beauty brings your way, bright sparkles of contentment, that stay with you through the days ahead!

DETIK BERSEJARAH: Seluruh warga Tetuan Johnson Than & Co. menzahirkan ucapan Selamat Menyambut Hari Malaysia kepada semua rakyat Malaysia.

Tanggal 16 September 1963, maka lahirlah sebuah negara baharu bernama Malaysia. Perisytiharan penubuhan Malaysia telah dibacakan oleh Perdana Menteri pertama, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj di Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur pada 16hb September 1963 di hadapan lebih kurang 30,000 rakyat Malaysia yang turut meraikan hari bersejarah tersebut. Tunku kemudiannya melaungkan 'Merdeka' sebanyak tujuh kali diselang seli laungan rakyat yang hadir selepas tamat membaca pemasyhuran Malaysia.

Memetik ucapan ulung Tunku, "Malaysia akan kekal menjadi sebuah negara demokrasi yang merdeka dan berdaulat serta berdasarkan kebebasan dan keadilan dan sentiasa menjaga dan mengutamakan kesejahteraan dan kesentosaan rakyatnya dan mengekalkan keamanan antara segala bangsa." Penghargaan dan penghormatan kita kepada jasa bakti Tunku menjadi lebih bermakna jika kita terus mengekalkan keharmonian merentasi bangsa, kaum, etnik, agama dan budaya yang merupakan kunci dan kestabilan negara.

Marilah sama-sama generasi kita memperkukuhkan azam dan memperkuatkan tekad berusaha ke arah menjamin keamanan dan kemakmuran Malaysia supaya kita juga dapat mengikuti jejak langkah Tunku, mewariskan kepada generasi muka sebuah negara bangsa yang merdeka, sebuah negara bangsa yang berdaulat lagi mulia, sebuah negara bangsa yang aman lagi makmur.

Seluruh warga Tetuan Johnson Than & Co. menzahirkan ucapan Selamat Menyambut Awal Muharram dan Salam Maal Hijrah 1442H kepada seluruh umat Islam di Malaysia.

Awal Muharram atau Maal Hijrah merupakan suatu hari yang mustahak bagi umat Islam kerana menandakan peristiwa penting yang berlaku dalam sejarah Islam iaitu memperingati penghijrahan Nabi Muhammad S.A.W dari Kota Makkah ke Madinah pada tahun 622 Masihi.

Semoga tahun hijrah ini membawa lebih ketakwaan dan hidayah kepada semua umat Islam. Hijrahkan diri ke arah yang lebih baik dan kekal beristiqamah dalam mengharungi kehidupan tahun ini dengan norma baharu.

MANDATORY MASK RULE: The federal government has made it compulsory, effective August 1, to wear face masks inside public transportation, crowded public spaces, and areas where social distancing is impossible to stem the tide of COVID-19 infections.

Under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988, those who do not comply with the new rule will face a fine of up to RM1,000.

As COVID-19 cases begin to rise in the country again, with new daily infections hitting double digits, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has emphasised that the use of face masks in public and social distancing measures could significantly reduce the spread of the virus.

Fabric and homemade face masks are allowed, but it must follow specifications allowed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) – which will be distributed by the Health Ministry in the near future.

Wearing face masks could prevent a second wave of the virus.
This sacrifice is needed from everyone – at least until a vaccine is ready!

Ucapan terima kasih dan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan turut dirakamkan kepada semua petugas barisan hadapan yang masih bertugas pada hari perayaan ini bagi membendung penularan wabak COVID-19. Kita bersyukur kerana petugas barisan hadapan yang telah bekerja tanpa henti sehingga negara Malaysia berjaya meratakan lengkungan COVID-19. Walaupun negara Malaysia telah berjaya sehingga ke tahap ini bagi menghindari bencana nasional yang dilihat berlaku di banyak negara ketika ini, namun perang melawan wabak COVID-19 belum berakhir. JUSTICE THE HOPE FOR MILLIONS: World Day for International Justice, is also referred to as Day of International Criminal Justice or International Justice Day, celebrated on July 17 every year to recognise the emerging system of international criminal justice. The intension behind celebrating the day is to help prevent serious crimes from taking place. The day, therefore, unites everyone, who wants to support justice and promote victims' rights.

July 17 is the date of the adoption of the treaty that created the International Criminal Court (ICC). World Day for International Justice promotes international criminal justice and also supports the work of the ICC. At the Review Conference of the Rome Statute held in Kampala (Uganda), the Assembly of State Parties decided to celebrate July 17 as the Day of International Criminal Justice in the year 2010.

The day also holds another significance, it commemorates the historic adoption of the Rome Statute in the year 1998. It further marks the importance of continuing the fight against impunity and bringing justice for the victims of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.

Each year, on this day, people across the world host events to promote international criminal justice, especially to support ICC. World Day for International Justice reminds people across the world to stay committed to justice and to ensure continued support for the international justice system.

Let's celebrate the day to the remembrance of what and how all we have achieved!

KENYATAAN MEDIA: Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) telah menerima aduan rasmi daripada orang awam berhubung wujudnya freelance agents, freelance models dan makeup artist yang menawarkan perkhidmatan bagi tujuan perniagaan melalui laman facebook peribadi atau laman facebook berkumpulan dengan tidak berdaftar.

Hasil semakan dan pemantauan mengesahkan bahawa perkhidmatan yang ditawarkan tidak didaftarkan dan ia menjadi satu kesalahan di bawah Seksyen 12(1)(a), Akta Pendaftaran Perniagaan 1956 iaitu gagal mendaftarkan perniagaan di mana jika sabit kesalahan boleh dikenakan denda tidak melebihi RM50,000.00 atau penjara selama tempoh tidak melebihi 2 tahun atau kedua-duanya sekali.

SSM menggesa orang ramai agar berhati-hati dengan perkhidmatan yang tidak berdaftar dengan SSM bagi mengelakkan sebarang masalah pada masa hadapan.

Berwaspada dengan perkhidmatan yang tidak berdaftar dengan SSM!

YOU ARE NOT ALONE: Domestic violence is a pattern of violence, abuse, or intimidation used to control or maintain power over a partner who is or has been in an intimate relationship. Fundamentally, domestic violence is about power and control. There are various forms of domestic violence, including physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, social, and financial abuse. Abusers often use more than one form of abuse to invoke fear or coerce a partner into behaving in ways they don't want to.

Domestic Violence Act 1994 (amendment) 2017 has been enforced throughout Malaysia. Incidents of domestic violence have been on the rise and have now become a pertinent social issue that requires drastic intervention. If measures are not implemented to prevent its prevalence, it will lead to the eventual collapse of society. The Domestic Violence Act 1994 is solely dedicated to providing and implementing settlement guidelines for such cases.

Today, women who are battered can get help from the police, social welfare department, hospitals and women's non-governmental organisations (NGOs) as well as take action against their abusers.
