Dr. YBY dijemput untuk memberikan pandangan perundangan berhubung isu pemandu mabuk, termasuk tindakan undang-undang yang lebih tegas dan pendekatan menyeluruh bagi membendung kes berulang. Pautan video ada di komen.
Secara ringkas:

1. Dr YBY menyentuh tindakan progresif pihak Peguam Negara yang membuat pertuduhan di bawah Seksyen 302 Kanun Keseksaan (bunuh).

2. Ini berbeza daripada pertuduhan biasa di bawah Seksyen 44(1)(a) atau (b) Akta Pengangkutan Jalan, iaitu kes memandu di bawah pengaruh dadah/alkohol sehingga menyebabkan kematian.

3. Dr YBY menegaskan isu ini perlu dibendung dengan memperkasa 3 komponen utama:
• Undang-undang
• Penguatkuasaan
• Budaya

4. Masyarakat perlu mempunyai kegentaran untuk memandu dalam keadaan mabuk melalui penguatkuasaan yang lebih tegas seperti:
• memperbanyakkan sekatan jalan raya
• lebih banyak ujian hembusan
• pemeriksaan rawak yang lebih konsisten

5. Budaya sihat perlu dibentuk melalui:
• kempen kesedaran
• pendidikan masyarakat

6. Teknologi dan langkah tambahan juga boleh digunakan seperti:
• penggunaan ignition interlock device
• penetapan waktu jualan alkohol tertentu
• penetapan lokasi jualan tertentu
• mencontohi pendekatan negara maju yang menghadapi masalah sama

We had the honor of making a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Timor-Leste in Malaysia, discussing future growth and potential legal collaboration between our firm, Messrs Yusfarizal, Aziz & Zaid, and Timor-Leste.
