Strata Management Bill - New Strata Tribunal

PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal here has affirmed a High Court ruling that the Commissioner of Buildings (COB) was right in deciding that only unit owners and not their proxies can be elected as council members of high-rise management corporations.

FORGED ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF PAYMENT OF STAMP DUTY

It has come to the attention of Bar Council that there have been cases of forged Stamp Certificates and Digital (Franking) Stamping. Thus, Members are advised to take all necessary measures to verify the authenticity of all Stamp Certificates and Digital (Franking) Stamping. These include, if necessary, checking Stamp Certificates and Digital (Franking) Stamping personally with the Deputy Director of the Stamp Office concerned.

The Bar Council Conveyancing Practice Committee (“CPC”) is working to secure an earliest date possible to engage Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri to identify:

(1) techniques that can be applied to verify the authenticity of Stamp Certificates and Digital (Franking) Stamping; and
(2) actions that can be adopted to address these issues.

Iskandar: 30 projects in Selangor without proper licences
STATE Housing, Building Management and Squatters committee chairman Iskandar Abdul Samad said there are at least 30 projects in Selangor that do not have proper building approvals or licences.

He said the cases were prevalent in Klang and Kuala Langat and that the state was in the midst of reviewing the projects.

New Housign Development Act amendment - NOT GOOD ENOUGH

The National House Buyers Association (HBA) and Association for Abandoned Building Owners Malaysia (Victims) want the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) to be more assertive in exercising their legal rights especially in protecting the people’s interest.
