Lawyer Yudistra Darma Dorai, a member of Najib’s legal team, said three legal questions had been framed to secure leave from the Federal Court.

He said the civil action was not a collateral attack on the criminal charges framed against Najib.

“It concerns my client’s allegations on the actions, conduct and omissions of the former AG, pertaining to Najib Razak, prior to Thomas becoming the AG, during his tenure, and after,” he told FMT.

Yudistra said the leave application would be heard on July 30.

His leave-to-appeal application, based on three legal questions, will be heard on July 30.

It was a Kongsi Raya of multiple celebrations.

The auspicious alignment of stars, moon, sun and space dust presented us with the rare opportunity to celebrate Chinese New Year, Ramadhan, and the birthdays of Sashi, Yudi, Yana and Dheev, together.

The celebrations were even more meaningful as Patrick Lim and Dheev, who had both left recently to pursue different paths (Patrick Lim & Co and Krish Maniam Partnership, respectively), joined the merry-making & face-stuffing (proving that it's not so easy to escape us).

It was also an ice-breaking session of sorts for our new lawyers Chelsea and Bala, as we initiated them in the ways of the firm of learning how to multitask eating, laughing at ourselves and letting our hair down, stylishly.

As we ride into the New Chinese Year, we see horse puns all around.

Much as we tried to rein in our admin's stallion-like enthusiasm, he simply bolted through.

It seems tradition has quite the stamina, and here we are, galloping into the New Year with gusto.

To our clients, friends, associates & team; thank you for riding alongside us, and may this New Year bring bold strides, strong momentum, and shared success all the way forward.

To our neigh-sayers, we wish you peace of heart, of mind and of spirit, and happiness.

Goodbyes are never easy, especially when it comes to those who have made (and sometimes physically left) such an indelible mark that it feels surreal when they leave.

But not all goodbyes are bad. Some goodbyes herald a rebirth, or the beginning of a change in direction.

It is on this basis that we bid a bittersweet goodbye to one of the pillars of the firm, our dear Patrick Lim. Bitter because we love him so much (in the case of certain staff, so so so much), but sweet because we know this could be the beginning of Patrick's circle back pivot to greater heights as a corporate legal giant.

We loathe to borrow cliched terms, but this is really "new year, new me" for Patrick, in a professional capacity at least.

We stand proudly behind Patrick as he opens the door to his own full-fledged corp firm, Patrick Lim & Co aka PLCO.

This is not the end, but the beginning of a beautiful friendship between us and PLCO, as we will continue to work closely with Patrick in legal areas which synergise to each other's strengths.

P.S. - We also suspect, in the case of our current IT and Admin Partners, that we will still be running back to Patrick for help in office matters 🤣
