Adastra IP at Singapore IP Week 2026

Adastra IP was proud to be represented at Singapore IP Week 2026, with our Managing Director, Datuk Mohan K, invited to speak at one of Asia’s foremost gatherings for the global intellectual property and innovation community.

Held on 26–27 August 2026 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, Singapore IP Week marked its 15th edition this year. Organised for the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), the annual event brings together global business leaders, policymakers, investors, innovators and IP professionals to exchange perspectives on the rapidly evolving role of intellectual property and intangible assets in the global economy. IPOS describes the event as Asia’s leading innovation and intellectual property event.

This year’s programme, themed “The Rise of AI: Is It IP as Usual?”, explored some of the most important issues confronting businesses and policymakers today — from AI and IP rights to commercialisation, valuation, financing and the growing importance of intangible assets as drivers of enterprise value.
Datuk Mohan participated in the panel “Unicorns in Disguise: Banking on Yesterday’s Economy?”, alongside senior representatives from NatWest Group, GIC and IP Investment Partners, moderated by EY. The discussion examined how IP-rich businesses can unlock financing and how financial institutions can better recognise intellectual property as a bankable business asset.
Datuk Mohan also shared Malaysia’s experience in developing IP-backed financing, including Adastra IP’s involvement in the WIPO–MIDF initiative, highlighting how valuation, commercial strategy and appropriate financing frameworks can help transform IP from a legal right into an asset capable of supporting business growth.

Singapore IP Week also provided an important platform for strengthening international and regional relationships. During the event, Datuk Mohan had the opportunity to engage with WIPO Director General Daren Tang, the Director-General of Thailand’s Department of Intellectual Property (DIP), Madam Auramon Supthaweethum and IPOS Chief Executive Tan Kong Hwee, exchanging perspectives on developments in the IP landscape

Thank you to the Collaborative Research in Engineering Science & Technology, for the invitation to speak at the CREST Open Day 2026 at Sains USM, Penang.

It was a pleasure for our IP Valuation Director, Christine Ng, CVA Ng, to share insights on "𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹." The session explored how intellectual property has evolved beyond legal protection to become a strategic business asset—supporting fundraising, licensing, joint ventures, M&A, and even IP-backed financing.

As intangible assets continue to drive enterprise value, understanding how to identify, structure, and value IP is becoming increasingly important for innovative businesses seeking growth and investment.

We appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the conversation and thank CREST for bringing together industry leaders, researchers, and innovators to advance Malaysia's innovation ecosystem.

The growing importance of intellectual property as a strategic business asset was a key theme at the Intellectual Property Innovation Forum 2026 (IPIF2026).

We were delighted to have our Director of IP Valuation & Commercialisation, Christine Ng, invited as a panel speaker at the IPIF2026 in Singapore, organised by IIPCC Singapore (International Intellectual Property Commercialisation Council Singapore).
The forum saw the keynote address delivered by the CEO of IPOS, Kong Hwee Tan and additional address by the Director of WIPO Singapore office, Thitapha Wattanapruttipaisan.

The panel brought together leaders from across the IP ecosystem to discuss a topic of growing importance: How intellectual property can be transformed from a legal asset into a strategic business asset through monetisation, financing, valuation, and commercialisation.

This is a conversation that resonates strongly with us at Adastra IP. For years, we have been advocating for a broader understanding of intellectual property—not only as a form of protection, but as a valuable business asset capable of driving growth, attracting investment, enabling technology transfer, and creating new commercial opportunities.

As innovation continues to shape the future economy, the ability to recognize, manage, and unlock the value of intangible assets is becoming increasingly important for businesses, investors, institutions, and policymakers alike.
