Welcoming the year of the Dragon!!! Wishing everyone a prosperous and great year ahead... Let's all soar to greater heights... We wish to take this opportunity to thank all the following:- 1. our beloved and hardworking colleagues of SLA who were imperative in us having a great year. Glad to have their undying support to ensure that we maintain our standards and live up to our motto of giving clients' peace of mind;
2. Our beloved clients/friends/mentors who have supported us over the years. Thanks for all the CNY gifts and we always cherish the trust and thoughts of clients who appreciate the services that we provide and ALWAYS wishing them the best of luck and be the leaders in their respective industries and Heng Ong Huat in the coming year;

LHDN just published the Guide Notes for Capital Gains Tax Returns which is effective from 1st MARCH 2024.

The key takeaway as follows:-

1. gains or profit from the disposal of; (a) shares of unlisted private companies in Malaysia; or (b) shares of controlled company incorporated OUTSIDE Malaysia which owns real property IN Malaysia or shares of another controlled company or both WILL BE SUBJECT TO CAPITAL GAINS TAX ("CGT");
2. Labuan Entities that elect to be subject to the Income Tax Act 1967 will also be subject to capital gains tax;
3. Submission and payment of CGT to be made within 60 DAYS from the disposal of the capital asset;
4. Disposal taking place between 1 January 2024 and 29 February 2024 is EXEMPTED from CGT AND NO REQUIREMENT for filing or submission;
