Good News for all! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The National Bank announced that individuals and small and SMEs were allowed to suspend repayments of the bank's existing loans, financing and installments for a period of six months.

This is part of the National Bank's efforts to help borrowers affected by the 2019 coronavirus outbreak.

National Bank said in a letter to the head of the financial institution that the automatic suspension measures will take effect from April 1.

"Banking institutions should provide individuals and SME borrowers with sufficient information on how suspended loans, financing and installments will be handled during the suspension period."

The agency said the automatic moratorium only applies to loans or financing that were not in arrears for more than 90 days as of 1st April 2020.

Does not include credit card balance

However, the suspension does not include credit card balances.

The National Bank stated that for outstanding credit card balances, banks should provide customers with the option to convert them into term loans of up to 3 years.

"For corporate borrowers, we strongly recommend that banking institutions assist in applying for a suspension."
